I have a sore finger! The skin on my index finger was dry and split and now it hurts when I type! - BooHoo!

Any suggestions? It's really annoying makes typing difficult and I definitely cannot type with a band-aid on my finger. I'm one of those finicky MTs who takes forever to find a comfortable height of my chair, distance from the keyboard, height of my monitor, etc. And absolutely nothing on my wrists and hands! No rings, watches, bracelets, band-aids!
I was considering putting super glue in the split, but then chickened out.
Funny you mention super-glue; I have a broken nail - that goes up into the quick, and (sm)

Maybe some ChapStick on the split fingertip might help, by moisturizing & filling in the crack. You'd have to keep applying it, though.
Or maybe Camphophenique cream. I used to dab it on canker sores in my mouth, or places where I'd bitten the inside of my mouth, and it not only had a pain-reducing property to it, but it seemed to heal the wound up a lot faster.
Maybe some other sort of antiseptic cream with a topical anesthetic in it would help to numb the pain while the wound healed.

[ In Reply To ..]I've used nail glue and/or clear nail polish to cover the numerous cuts I get on my fingers. I too cannot type when wearing a Band-Aid on my fingertip. I even tried Liquid Skin or whatever it was, which struck me as nothing more than clear nail polish I had already been using.
I have no lymph in my armpit, so when I get a cut anywhere to that arm/hand I have to act fast to prevent an infection landing me in the hospital again for a course of IV antibiotics.
I've never had a problem/side effect due to my use of nail glue or nail polish immediately to any cuts (after cleaning with hydrogen peroxide of course). For me, either of them prevent an infection better than a Band-Aid and Neosporin combo, they do not interfere with my typing or navigating the keys and the added plus for me is that it forms a water tight barrier with my skin.
In fact, I have a deep cut to my cuticle currently covered with both nail glue and nail polish and I don't have that splotchy red streak up my arm to worry about.

Doctor sounds like he is saying pilon fracture, but the patient has a finger issue, not an ankle fracture. Hi, everyone. I'm sure that this is a common problem in the transcription field, but I was hoping someone had some sort of remedy. I've been typing every day for the past couple of weeks about 9 hours a day and one of my fingers (the one I use for the Backspace key) is really starting to hurt every time I push down on it. Has this happened to anyone else? My right index finger (the one that operates the arrow keys to navigate the cursor when editing) has become definitely crooked (pointing off to the left). In the last couple of months I've noticed that my fingers seem sore to touch.
