My sympathy goes out to these MTs, but honestly it's just another indication that Nuance, M*Modal and those striving to be "just like them" are destroying what was once a decent "career." Of course, this is just my opinion. Good luck to all of you! :(

Every so often, the CFOs (chief financial officers) will look around for ways to save money (and themselves). They send out RFIs to MTSOs(requests for information) and are bombarded with information. Then RFQs are sent out (requests for quotes) and the big MTSOs AGGRESSIVELY give the bean counters (CFOs) "numbers". They lie and push and promise the world. The CFO in our hospital somehow figured out they would save 40% and he also said an MT could make $36.00 an hour by going with the MTSO, until we informed him that this meant an MT would furiously type from the minute they hit the keyboard until the end of eight hours with no breaks, no demographics, no researching, no phone calls, no eye blinking, and would never run out of work 5 days a week; and the CFO didn't even know VR cut the rate of pay in half. Still didn't matter though, he had convinced the board of commissioners and they believed him. Only the 2 doctors on the board of 6 commissioners voted against it; tell you something?

but meanwhile tell him (and you can be sure it is a "him"), that the Labor Board takes a very dim view of pushing his MTs like robots. It really peeves me that the quality of life for MTs is in the hands of some of these bean counters who could not find their 6:00 with two hands and a flashlight. They have no clue. That is why I am getting out. Better to go through the hell of the Bar Exam than the hell of continuing on in what has become the Ninth Circle of Hades.

These huge corporations, be they the ones that buy up hospitals or the ones that buy up MTSOs, have no heart. And, contrary to some politicos, CORPORATIONS ARE NOT PEOPLE.

The "but" in that sentence implies that the MTs were NOT already providing 99% accuracy, thus attempting to further justify Nuance's takeover and even promote Nuance as an MTSO (implying that ALL Nuance MTs have 99% accuracy) to any other hospitals who might be on the bridge about outsourcing.

It's always about the almighty dollar. Who cares about the humans involved, as long as that bottom line looks good. Best way to stay in control is to keep the workers down and in fear.

They won't be able to keep us down and in fear after - we have all LEFT FOR GOOD! n/m

Maybe old posting on the internet...not sure, or if all jobs are taken. Hard time finding the "transcription" postings and then led to a test. Not that long of a test but then states you did not pass then prompts you to a sign-up for medical terminology classes. Not sure if this is just a class sign up come on. If I were going to take a class, it surely would not be in transcription as there are no jobs out there. We are given other avenues ...

Once again, I was down to my last few jobs, but hurrying to get them because I could tell from the list of jobs that someone else was eating up the dictation too. I had my download setting on 2 jobs. Some (all?) of the hospitals are very demand and critical, so its impossible to believe they want their work to go to India. MQ is screwing up royally with their software for the MT's so I can imagine it is just as bad for the hospitals.
