What is it like working for this woman as an MT, her work ethics.
She lies and doesn't pay!!!!!! - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Read the past month about this horrific lady. She makes you work and promises your pay and you never get it. She continuously comes up with excuses why you haven't received your check yet and expects you to keep working. She also makes you sign an agreement that you will not talk about her on this or any other board (oops) so that can't say very much about her character.
The above poster is right. I am still waiting on pay from work done in March. sm - She is bad news

I cannot believe she is trying to hire more MTs when she was never ONCE on time paying the MTs she had. She lost a big account because finally everyone quit working because she was so far behind in paying them. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.
Do an archive search - lots of items on this woman

She hardly ever answered emails, and if she did it was a week or more later. Even then, she wasn't knowledgeable about the account or platform. IMO she has no business even being a supervisor, much less the head of a company.
She still doesn't answer e-mails or phone calls, especially now nm - That she owes everyone money

Doing research on how to get this woman to stop stealing from her MTs, I called the Bexar County Sheriff's Office in San Antonio, TX. If you are not getting your money go directly to your local Sheriff's Office and file a Sheriff's Report there. Your County Sheriff will forward the complaint/report on to Bexar County. There they will bring theft charges against this crooked woman who likes padding her own bank account with her MTs hard-earned wages!

If I may offer an additional suggestion, in addition to filing the reports with the sheriff, you might want to:
1. Write a brief incident report and send it to the attorney general's FRAUD DIVISION of the state in which you reside and do the same for the attorney general's FRAUD DIVISION in Texas.
2. Contact the IRS and send them a copy of what has transpired. Chances are she may be withholding taxes from the employee but not paying them to the federal and state government, which takes a very dim view of such matters and has hefty penalities, including fines and PRISON, if convicted.
3. Not sure what size cities you live in, but in LA there are several television stations that have specialists that expose business fraud. They come and interview you, you tell your story, and then they try to get the other person to pay up. The whole thing goes on television.
4. If I were in your shoes, I would file a report with the Better Business Bureau. They have no legal teeth, but it will sure look bad on her record to have so many complaints about cheating.
5. Join Glass Door (glassdoor.com). It is free and you can review the company. You could post a warning there. Not only would potential future employees see it, but so would potential clients--hospitals, docs, hospital administrators, etc.
6. I know this is expensive, but sometimes it is worth it to pay a private attorney to send a letter. Sometimes just seeing "attorney at law" at the top of a letter gets some action. Because there are so many of you, I am wondering if there is a potential for a class action?
7. I would be so hot about this that I would write to my state and federal reps as well. I would release a statement to organizations like the Small Business Administration and SCORE. These business groups do not have legal power, but they work very hard to help businesses succeed and do not like it when people try to cheat individuals in business.
Sorry this has been so lengthy, just wanted to throw a few ideas out there. I hope you get your money and I hope that people who behave like this get their (well-deserved) karma. May it kick them in the place it will do the most good!

This woman is a 1-person company. What she does is starts up a new transcription company, steals all the wages from her MTs, lets that company fall to the wayside and then opens up a new company under another different name and starts the process of theft all over again! This woman is BAD NEWS! Do not work for her, unless you like donating your time to pad her bank account!

Does anyone know if she has any kind of a sheet? I.e., has she ever been convicted of any crimes? If so, she could be in violation of parole with these schemes. (I know this is a long shot, but I'm a law student, so I look at these things differently.)
Don't forget her delusions of grandeur -- talk of hiring 200 more MTs sm - Another unpaid MT

for 20 new accounts (or something like that), when she couldn't (or wouldn't) pay the MTs she had to keep the account she had. Poor business sense. Started a business with no money, no loan or backup financing, then contracted the account at the same rate she pledges to pay the MTs. She should give up the idea of being an MTSO and get a job and pay the people she owes.

I'm not trying to be cruel here, but is it possible this woman has mental problems of some kind?
I don't know. I used to think I knew her back in the Cardioscribes day, sm - Another unpaid MT

but the person I thought I knew could never have betrayed MTs like this, so perhaps I never knew her at all. I feel like a fool for trusting her at all, but fortunately she does not owe me as much as she owes some of the others. She has the "gift of gab," so she is good at landing contracts and sweet talking MTs into working for her, but when it comes down to it, if what she told me is correct, she had financial issues before this even started and had no business trying to start a company with no money. Part of me feels sorry for her still, but mostly I am just hurt, disappointed, and angry that she has stolen from me and others.
Another unpaid MT - Why feel sorry for her?

Instead, you should feel sorry for the MTs who have been robbed. And yes, that is what it is--theft.
Of course I feel sorry for the MTs -- I am one of them. But I do have compassion sm - Another unpaid MT

for a dream that went sour. I only said part of me feels sorry for her. Obviously, it was a very bad business move and she has hurt a lot of people, myself included. I am hurt and angry. I once considered her a friend of mine, but friends do not treat friends that way. It could have been great. The account was a good one with plenty of work and not bad dictators. But you cannot start up a company with no money, no financial backing, no credit whatsoever, and you do not bid x cpl for a contract and pay your MTs x cpl too and expect for things to work out. It was either stupidity or naivete on her part. None of this was explained to me (and I assume none of the other MTs) when I signed on. I only found out later when the excuses began to pile up and the pay became later and later. Putting her in jail will not get anyone their money -- perhaps that is why we have done away with debtor's prisons. I think, realistically, she should get 2 jobs, do whatever it takes, and pay everyone. But she sees herself now as this grand MTSO and I doubt she would "lower herself" to such a thing. So ... yes, I'm angry. It is just a small part of me that can see how overwhelming that would be to paint yourself in a corner like that. I was told she owes someone $2700. If that is true, THEM I feel sorry for indeed.

I really am sorry for you--not for her (I hope she gets her, um, you know, kicked) but I do feel sorry for you and the others. Didn't this financial wonder MTSO ever hear of writing a BUSINESS PLAN before starting into business? I mean, come on.
you all sure that is her real name? - just sayin...NM

This woman has no problem lying through her teeth over and over again! She still owes me lots of money as she does with all of her previous Omniscribes MTs (approximately 23 others)! She doesn't return calls, doesn't respond to emails, and does not pay!
She can talk a sweet deal, but in the end she doesn't pay! More than likely she is starting up a "new" business under a different name, so if you see Tonya Hubley - STAY AWAY! UNLESS YOU WANT TO WORK FOR FREE!

I worked for her last summer, when she was still with "I" and I had a great trauma acct in NYC....then, they lost that account for some reason...so I bailed after my first (and only) check was late. I heard the same rhetoric - pay was submitted, should be in account tomorrow, etc...Then she called me to tell me about the Omniscribes thing - I just didn't have a good feeling, so stayed where I am, and thank God I did. Good luck to all of you who have not been paid. She sure had me fooled also, seemed very sincere in what she wanted to accomplish and said she had some docs backing her....is Cardioscribes still in biz?
They still have a web site, but I have only seen ads for Mediscribes. sm - Another unpaid MT

I wonder what happened there, too. At one point she was tight with the owners. Her e-mail address for the I company is still active as well, so I don't know what is going on there either. She has told so many lies. If she walked in to a room soaking wet and told me it was raining, I'd still have to go outside and check for myself.

Why MTs think it should be THEIR problem when an MTSO has a cash flow issue. That should NEVER been the MTs' problem. Virtually any MTSO who knows her (or his) stuff has a business account with a line of credit which can be drawn on for unforeseen emergencies. I know that at the bank in California where I did business, if your business loan was under $100,000K it went through the SMALL LOANS DEPARTMENT. I mean, it's not like the MTSO is applying for a mortgage to buy the Transamerica Pyramid! Small business loans get granted every single day. Anybody, ANYBODY, who would open a "business" without having a formal business plan (which, by the way, is required by the bank granting the small business loan and line of credit--and you have to also produce a certified financial statement signed by a CPA) is not much of a businessperson. It works the same way no matter where you are, downtown Los Angeles or East Egypt, Texas. I think this woman (whoever she is; thankfully, I have never done business with her) has a pattern of taking advantage of the MTs being naive. Please, please, educate yourselfes in the basics of business. Have a clause written in your contract that says that your pay does not depend on any third-party payments, that your agreement is solely with the MTSO, and that s/he is solely responsible for the totality of your payment in a timely way. You were very smart to bail after one payment was late. Back when I had a mortgage, the bank would never have tolerated a late payment (I never made any late payments); neither should you tolerate a late payment from a MTSO. Her problem is not your problem. If you want to take on the financial risks of her business, then she should give you a fiduciary interest in the profits. Otherwise, you are an employee who should be paid on time. Good thing this did not happen to me or I would go to every agency, every TV station, every personal interest columnist, the IRS, the Labor Boards, you name it. (They say people choose the dogs that best reflect their own views on life. I have a Rottweiler and a Doberman. 'Nuff said.) ;)-

DO NOT APPLY for jobs with Omniscribes. Owner is Tonya Hubley, out of San Antonio, TX. She does not pay on time and we are worried we will not see our money at all. She had lost a huge account. She was not paying her independent contractors and most everyone quit because they were tired of working for free, which ultimately resulted in her losing the account. This put over 20 MT's out of a job and sitting without getting their last 6 weeks' of pay. S ...

I can't believe what just happened to me. I answered the ad for RAD STAT. Tonya hired me. I started working at 8 p.m. Friday night. I jumped right in without any EMDAT/inscribe training. I worked for three hours straight doing 40 reports without any training. The last 10 reports were difficult as I didn't have ALL the samples. She also said she would jump in and help me. Is there anywhere on this website that it is appropriate for owners to post about people who have been ICs with your company and you would like others to know about their work quality, etc? Has anyone ever dealt with a situation like this? Sometimes it's only a few dollars, other times it can be up to $20-30+ per pay period. I received a very sad email from a woman who stated (and I believe her) that she was a former MT with more than 2 decades of experience. She was upset at the pay scale listed in an advertisement she saw seeking independent contractors. It's true that wages are not what they once were in the heyday of medical transcription, but neither are the rates that client ...
7 cents a line for independent contracting and for radiology? What is going on with this business? The hospitals at least treated us with hourly wages and health benefits. Now what gives? Every hospital I know has no transcription radiology department any more anyway, so may ...
