That was also posted barely a month ago. anyone comment on this subject? With the dozens if not twenties of desperate MTs here, and OPti legendarily held in high esteem, something is missing.

starting to shift priorities and are no longer willing to revolve their lives around a keyboard. I know that for me, time with family and friends is much more important than the low wages of transcribing a shift that takes you away from important events, especially with low/no differential pay to make up for it.

You still have the newbies chirping that making minimum wage is worth it for the opportunity to work at home (check the Nuance board most recently), but experienced MTs know better.

I agree, plus 3rd shift is hard. I never realized HOW hard sm - JMO

until I tried to work it. I have done 1st and 2nd, no problems, and even sometimes will wake up in the wee hours and type a bit and that is fine ... but doing 3rd shift consistently is a whole 'nother ball game (at least for me). I don't know how much incentive is offered, but even for Opti-Script, the Holy Grail of MT companies, it seems, I'd have to say no thanks.

I'll admit that I'm a night owl and usually stay up pretty late, but I could never work third shift. I sometimes will work until 1 or 1:30 in the morning if I feel like putting in some extra hours, but I could never sit there and work every single night straight through until 6 or 7 in the morning...no way! Third shift is definitely not worth it. I like to spend my nights relaxing and spending time with my husband, not slaving in front of the computer at those hours.

Yep, it's the third shift that's hard for all of us who've been in the industry for many years. We can't stay awake and be productive. Great company, great shift pay (additional penny a line), but if you can't stay awake it doesn't work for long. So I'm sure why they're still trying to fill these positions. I'm happy to be on their first-shift team, and even on this account. It's a learning curve, but I do well. We ran out of work a few times during the recent east coast storms, but that's rare. I'm hunkered down here as it is the best MTSO on the planet.

and really enjoyed it. currently stuck doing clinic notes elsewhere. Yet I know third shift is just too physically taxing. I'm sad, would love to do variety of work types.

I tested with Opti-Script less than 2 months ago and I was told that I passed, but that there was a waiting list to be hired and that they would contact me as soon as they had openings. I have read so many good things about Opti-Script - tested recently but no openings right now. Low turnover rate - which is GOOD! So I'll wait.....So many slave shop companies out there - I don't want to go that route. Talked with some companies and tested with some. BTW, one gripe I have - testing for a company - and knowing you did well, but absolutely NO REPLY!!!
