Why is Opti-Script running an ad??? - Confused

I tested with Opti-Script less than 2 months ago and I was told that I passed, but that there was a waiting list to be hired and that they would contact me as soon as they had openings. I just noticed that they posted an ad on Monday for acute care MTs "needed immediately", but I have not heard from them. I also have a friend who tested with them even before I did and is also on the waiting list, and she hasn't been contacted either. Why wouldn't they first contact the people who have already passed their test and are on their waiting list to be hired before placing an ad? This just seems like bad business practice to me.

I honestly don't understand the hiring practices of MOST MTSOs. They seem to enjoy the hiring process, which to me would be more of a headache. You have the companies with out-of-work MTs and they are running ads, then you have those companies that just received thousands of resumes/tests and rather than pulling some of those, they just run the same ad again a month later. It is very confusing, to say the least.

I have applied with Opti-Script a couple of times, was placed on a "waiting list" but was never contacted, yet I know they had other openings. I think they try to match MT skills and experience to their accounts and choose people who are going to be the best fit. This particular account, as someone said, is difficult and is 85% ESL, maybe that is what you want but I wouldn't. I also know that Opti-Script does not pay the same on all accounts and the more difficult ones have a higher line rate. If you want to work there, keep trying and hopefully you'll be chosen the next time they are hiring.

If you didn't apply for third shift, maybe that's the reason they haven't called you back. It says in the ad specifically what position they are hiring for. I applied a while back too, but I do NOT want third shift, so I really don't want them calling me-not until they have a position that works for me.

Actually it's not too bad I don't think. Yes, it's a lot of ESL, but their QA team gives you samples and even lots of cheat sheets, plus the feedback is awesome. I do fairly well on the account, averaging between $15-$18/hour. And there's usually plenty of work, except when we've had weather like we've had these last few weeks. Everything comes to a standstill. But not the worst account I've ever been on, and I like the technology. And I really like the company and their managers. Don't open the door for me.

They keep you on a waiting list based on your testing - this is a class 5 account, so pays more. If they think you can't do that kind of work, you wait until an acct more suited to your testing results comes up. I tested for them, wanted the class 5 account only, but she said I tested for a different "class" so I told her to remove my name from her waiting list. If I want to type clinic notes, I'll apply for that kind of thing. I test poorly, but have done every work type for over 25 years - so, their loss, in my estimation. :) Good luck to those of you hanging in there.

It is a difficult account, and some folks may realize early on that they cant get used to it, but I believe there have to be some third shift MTs out there who will like it and make decent money. We just need to find them!

I have read so many good things about Opti-Script - tested recently but no openings right now. Low turnover rate - which is GOOD! So I'll wait.....So many slave shop companies out there - I don't want to go that route. Talked with some companies and tested with some. BTW, one gripe I have - testing for a company - and knowing you did well, but absolutely NO REPLY!!!
