dear night timers -- i normally work days, but just wanted to let you know that after filling in for a couple of shifts working nights that I appreciate you guys now more than ever. I do not know how you do it day in/day out (or is that night in/night out?) Anyway, I just wanted you all to know that I have a new appreciation for the night timers who work thru the night. It was an eye opener and it was actually nice to walk in someone else's shoes for once!! Thanks for all you do during the night!!!

It's just so calm and peaceful and allows me to really rack up the lines because I work with no distractions.

It's not for everyone, that's for sure, but it certainly works for me. Dinner at midnight every night can be very romantic...Even if it's only for an hour and then back to work, lol!

Thanks for the nice note. I have worked the night shift for quite a long time, and it is a difficult shift to get used to. When people are getting up, you are going to bed. You wake up in the afternoon, when people are about to end their day, and you are going to work. It is sort of wierd, but it is also very quiet. You find ways to try and stay awake, and sometimes it is not easy. I was asked to work a couple of evenings a week so the stat work could be covered on a couple of accounts, then it never stopped, and I tried to get off of it, but they still say they need me at that time. I don't know how long this will go on, but they are not willing to let me leave this shift. It is nice to be appreciated and thanks for all the nice things you said.

Thank you so much. I am not sure I could handle a day shift anymore, but I do envy you who have one :) The company I am working for now, I believe hired me only because I was will to work nights lol. They even called me their Midnight Queen, Loved it!

Just this morning I was talking to my husband about "the good old days" in the medical transcription world. I remember when we would type a report, I mean "straight" type a report (no VR), send it off to be signed by the physician and then it was placed on the medical record. I am starting to wonder if Transcend has more part time workers than full time, excluding the TLs. It just seems like it is such a fight to get enough work to be full time. It also seems like it saves them in the long run to not provide insurance and now gift cards at Christmas if they have more part timers, just my feeling. ...
