Wondering if Transcend is really offering insurance to part timers?? - TR MT

I saw below where Transcend may be offering health insurance to part timers in September, just wondering if anybody has heard anything about that. I would like to have insurance again, so am very curious if that is true. Thanks for your help!

Transcend just completed benefits open enrollment and the new benefits year begins July 1, 2011. Medical insurance benefits are offered to full time employees only. Transend part-time insurance YES in SEPTEMBER - working there!

Hi, I AM a part-timer at Transend and got the information that we will be offered part-time insurance in September. I said it below. I see you work in Employee Relations. Talk to Laurie Bouhan, SPHR, Manager of Compensation, Benefits and HRIS. She told me this o 5/28/11. Currently, it is full-time only, but in September it will for part-time people too.

I just can't figure out why they would all of the sudden offer part time employees any kind of benefits since it would cost them more money to do so.

I am starting to wonder if Transcend has more part time workers than full time, excluding the TLs. It just seems like it is such a fight to get enough work to be full time. It also seems like it saves them in the long run to not provide insurance and now gift cards at Christmas if they have more part timers, just my feeling. ...

I just read on MQ Central that as a part-timer you are eligible for "partial" benefits. I had asked on this board before if part-timers were eligible for health insurance and was told no. What does "partial" benefits mean exactly? I'd like to drop to part time but absolutely need to keep health insurance. Thanks in Advance! ...

I have received my vision insurance ID cards but no documentation whatsoever about my health insurance since "applying" for full-time employee status with benefits. I find this odd as this is the last business day before the official transition on 02/01/2010. Wouldn't the health insurance, if it is actually in place, be in effect as of 02/01/2010? I would ask MDI myself, but the intimidation tactics and fear mongering they have employed over the last several week ...
