I was full-time and was told my position was terminated as of this morning. supposed to get a severance package. I was told the exact amount, supposed to be a letter for me to sign tomorrow from Fedex.

I am so very sorry for what happened to you, but as a single mom with this being my FT position, can you say if you were having troubles here? How long were you employed here? I was bought out a few months back, after quitting here 18 years ago. So scared right now, I cannot think. Again, I am terribly sorry.

I came over when Medquist bought Spheris, before we became MModal. As far as seniority, I have been with the same company through all the times it has morphed into other companies for 12 years. I had no problems. Was always making QA and line counts. This came totally out of the blue.

I was full time and 15 minutes before I was supposed to sign in to start working they called me and said we are letting you go - 5 years with the company and they give me 15 minutes notice!

They want to get rid of the more experienced (read - MORE EXPENSIVE) ones and take on those newbies who will work for next to nothing to get a foot in the door. This kind of behavior is one of the reasons I decided to leave MT. My sympathies to all of you. I think this is a dying profession. At they used to say at UC "The patient (in this case the profession) is SNUD"--SICK NIGH UNTO DEATH. And, if I may add a little political rejoinder, CORPORATIONS ARE NOT PEOPLE!

a lot of businesses are doing this, if you hire for less than 30 hours the employee is considered part time and the employer does not have to provide the health care that Uncle O'Sam has mandated for all full time employees (too bad congress didn't read the bill but than San Fran Nan told us we would all have to wait until the bill passes to find out what was in it.

Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done.
