MDI/Transcend-Has NE1 received health insurance cards? - SN

I have received my vision insurance ID cards but no documentation whatsoever about my health insurance since "applying" for full-time employee status with benefits. I find this odd as this is the last business day before the official transition on 02/01/2010. Wouldn't the health insurance, if it is actually in place, be in effect as of 02/01/2010? I would ask MDI myself, but the intimidation tactics and fear mongering they have employed over the last several weeks has taken its toll on me, and I have no desire to bring any unnecessary attention to myself.

When the company I worked for was bought out by Transcend we had a week to get ALL the paperwork filled out and sent back, so we were not happy about that. No matter when you get the insurance card it should retro back to Feb. 1st. The only thing I would suggest is getting that checkup ASAP because Transcend could try to take the insurance away down the road. I really do understand trying not to make a fuss and just blending into the woodwork since I felt like that too during the transition and still feel like that now. Good luch to you!

We are covered 02/01/2010, goes into effect, regardless of whether you have your card or not. I received my card today.

I also do not want to draw unnecessary attention so I totally agree. I also have gotten vision cards but nothing else. Hopefully we will get the rest next week since someone got theirs they said. I am just praying for the best and that is all I can do!

With this new healthcare reform, does this mean that outsourcing companies are going to have to provide health insurance to MTs? Even though you may be an independent contractor, you still work for the company. This is my first VR job. I cannot make enough lines to qualify for health insurance on it. This is the first time I have ever had this problem. I just recently got MQ health insurance. I was wondering how it works since it is just a HSA and not a PPO or HMO. Please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I have heard this insurance plan (BC/BS?) does not cover primary care office visits until you reach a 2500 dollar deductible, no copay anymore, paying for the whole visit?? I thought all insurance companies had us pay a copay, not the whole cost of the office visit.
