Don't know the company, but they will be adding part-time insurance in September if that is helpful.

Did you get an email about that?
Transend insurance for part-time is new - MT there

When DTS merged, we had Transend phone conference and they told us about giving part-time insurance being in the works and I asked by email later and was told it would be available in September 2011. Not sure if the price will be more than for full-time though. Will have to wait and see.

I was curious if they had decent insurance for individual or family and what the cost is for both. Anyone know? Thinking about applying

Wow. I am not even really balking at the $600 a month. It's that you pay that and then STILL have to meet a $5000 deductible. Wow..I cannot say that enough. Wow. lol
With changes to healthcare laws this - year I doubt you will find

an individual plan that is all that much better. The copay is not $5000 per person, it's 2500 with 7500 family max and this is for major medical/hospitalization. It's a pretty decent plan. Copay for office visit is $25 and specialist $35. No referrals are needed. You just go and pay your copay.
There is a $2500 deductible for major medical/hospitalization with $7500 family maximum. There is also prescription coverage that is decent with tier copays.
You do have the option to buy up to the $1000 deductible plan. Office visit copays are the same, just the major/hospitalization deductible changes.
In checking, I think your right. Can you tell me? - OP

What approximate costs are to "buy up" to get the lower deductible? Thanks.
Depends on who you are covering. - For example

For individual it's $100 more, emp + spouse extra $200, emp and children extra $175, for a family about $260.
I have the regular plan and it's worked out perfect. If you have kids and office visits, it's simple to use with no forms or referrals to worry about. you just show your card, pay your co-pay and you're done. You don't even need to pick a PCP. You can go to any that are in network and the network is pretty large. I think preventive care is no deductable starting the new benefit period.
With the buyup, I think the other change is the ER copay - it's less at $100.

In my opinion, that deductible is way too much on top of the $600/month premium. Wow. We are lucky we have my husban'd insurance. It is only 400/month for family and $1000 ded. If I had to rely on taking insurance from Transcend, I would definitely be in trouble.

MDI/Transcend-Has NE1 Received Health Insurance Cards? Jan 29, 2010I have received my vision insurance ID cards but no documentation whatsoever about my health insurance since "applying" for full-time employee status with benefits. I find this odd as this is the last business day before the official transition on 02/01/2010. Wouldn't the health insurance, if it is actually in place, be in effect as of 02/01/2010? I would ask MDI myself, but the intimidation tactics and fear mongering they have employed over the last several week ...

Health Insurance As An IC Oct 21, 2010I am considering becoming self employed (after a fashion) as an IC. I have gone onto www.healthcare.gov and gone through the steps they advise when you want to take out private insurance. Holy cow, the insurance plans offered varied in premium cost from $600 to $4000 per month for a family of 4, but the thing that got me was two items: Maximum out of pocket for individual: 0$. Annual deductible for individual: 0$. Woohoo. This just seems too good to be true.&n ...

HELP! Need Health Insurance Jun 26, 2015I've always had my own health insurance. I didn't want to get stuck with whatever plan my employer happened to offer, and I didn't want to worry about losing my insurance if I changed jobs.
But now the company I'm with is getting out of the insurance business, and I need to find new coverage. The company I work for offers insurance, but like I said above, I don't want their plan. And since they offer it, I'm not eligible for ACA (and I don't ...

New Health Insurance Reform Mar 30, 2010With this new healthcare reform, does this mean that outsourcing companies are going to have to provide health insurance to MTs? Health Insurance Options Available Now To Anyone Jan 30, 2011To those of you who desperately need insurance now, here is a great place to look for temporary insurance. If you eventually find out that COBRA is not going to happen or LM jerks you around so long you miss the deadline, you can still qualify for Uninsurable Risk insurance depending on the State you live in. Some of these plans may even be cheaper than COBRA, which is something you might want to look into.

I Can't Qualify For Health Insurance With A VR Job May 03, 2011This is my first VR job. I cannot make enough lines to qualify for health insurance on it. This is the first time I have ever had this problem. I could easily exceed my line count with a straight typing job. The only way I could meet line count now is if I blaze through the jobs without proofreading and put out bad-quality jobs. I wouldn't even be able to get up to stretch my legs ever. I'd have to cut my lunch down to 30 minutes. And even then I'd be about 1000 to ...

Nuance Health Insurance Nov 09, 2012Please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I have heard this insurance plan (BC/BS?) does not cover primary care office visits until you reach a 2500 dollar deductible, no copay anymore, paying for the whole visit?? I thought all insurance companies had us pay a copay, not the whole cost of the office visit. What about prescriptions, do we pay the full price for them now too, or is it still about a 15 dollar copay? I am left wondering how they got this kind of insuranc ...
