Where are all the negative Nellies now? - OTIMT

Just wondering where all the people without work are at now, especially after the latest email. Funny how everyone complains about no work but many of the accounts are close to being out of TAT - of course, payday was a couple of days ago so the rush isn't on yet, right?

Who can last for 3 or 4 months with no work? I certainly couldn't, so I found work elsewhere. I still work for OTI, but only part time now.

How can they expect to keep MTs when they haven't had any work? The email said that everyone has been doing a terrific job about keeping the accounts in TAT. Not hard to do when an account only has 10 reports and there are 5+ MTs on that account all trying to get their lines in.

I used to be loyal to OTI, always worked my schedule and always sang them praises, but no longer. After months of no work, I can never rely on them again for steady work.

After 3-4 months of scrounging for work, I hardly think 1 day of I asking for help is a cause of great celebration. There are 26 ER reports on my account now -- yippee! How can I possibly get that all done (insert major sarcasm).

Like the other poster, I used to sing the praises of OTI, but after their last overhiring binge I feel no loyalty whatsoever.

I was once a happy MT, and I'd read "negative" comments on here and think that it was the MT--that surely she had a bad attitude. I no longer think that as for months upon months work has been incredibly slow, sometimes just one note in an entire day, often without explanation. I also note that my physicians don't use transcriptionists, nor do my daughters' physicians, or my mother's cardiologist. Why should they when at their fingertips is something quicker, easier, and less time consuming? I can't say that I blame them. So, just in the last few days, I've decided that I'm moving on. I gave it my all, tried to provide the quickest and highest accuracy possible to keep the docs happy as long as possible, and I personally hung on as long as possible because it's tough to make a drastic lifestyle change. However, for the first time in my life, I'm late making payments on my bills; my spouse has started yelling at me about how little I'm now making and what a strain it's putting on our finances; I've been swallowing Nexium with Mylanta chasers for the acid indigestion; I can't sleep well; and I've paid too much for payday advances, trying just to scrape by. I'm convinced now that this industry is dying, and there's no way technology won't eventually eliminate even the "editing" jobs and eventually all the snarky/gloating supervisors' jobs, too. We are all becoming OBSOLETE and going the way of camera film processing techs, checkbook makers, switchboard operators, and, sadly, mailmen and tellers, who are also experiencing the sickening feeling of job insecurity. This is not a matter of being whiny or cranky or negative; this is a matter of facing and accepting reality!

MT is truly a dying art....my doctor writes out all her stuff, including office procedures. She employs NO MTs. Home Health Aides are on the rise - that is an easy job with little training. It's like taking care of gramma and grampa, and getting paid for it. Pay can be anywhere from minimum wage all the way up to $10 an hour. Go for it ladies/gents!

My mom lives with me, she is paralyzed T8 down, and there is constant moving, tweeking, hoyer use, diaper changes, catheter care, meal prep, she needs complete assist so I don't see how you figure home health is "easy." That's kind of similar to someone saying "well I can do transcription because I know how to type." Until you have done it personally, you probably shouldn't be handing out advice about it being so "easy"

OK..... It's an orthopedic chart note. Patient has a chief complaint of hip pain. Dictated: He has a negative [s/l fair, fairs, varus?] sign, a negative fabere sign. It doesn't sound like fadir; I'm not hearing that "d." I already had to leave two medication blanks and hate to leave another one for an orthopedic sign that I feel like I should know! Thank you in advance for your help and ideas! ...

I honestly don't understand all the negative MTs on here. It is very unprofessional to come on here and slam your company. I have been an MT for over 10 years and have always made enough money and I'm proud of what I do and love the money I make, all while working from home. Seriously. The account I'm on has apparently been having lots of critical errors, mostly number errors, lab values etc. So they sent out an email with an attached PDF with a crossword puzzle that we are required to do and turn in. WTF? Is this elementary school? And we are paid by the line. How do they plan to compensate us for our time doing the required crossword puzzle? I find it totally ridiculous.
