The work at TT has dried up - again.
Hypothetically, if an employee has proof that the employer is feeding work to 1 or 2 specific MTs (and has written in multiple emails that they do not) and that employee is not even making minimum wage during the agreed-upon hours, do you think he/she would have a case for unemployment to supplement, at least, up to minimum wage - or something else?

minimum wage. If they are not giving you at least minimum wage, that needs to be dealt with by the labor board.
If you are not getting full-time work anymore, call the UE office as UE also covers instances where you are not working full-time but are not technically laid off, either. As long as you are available to work full-time within the time frame of your normal job hours, you should be able to draw.
For instance, in the construction business, it can get seasonal slows at which time our workers can draw UE for not being full-time even if they do work a day or 2. The only thing is that you can only make 70% of your UE benefit working or you lose the benefit for that week. The worker has to be available to work; however, we (as bosses) cannot ask them to come in at midnight or on a Sunday to work (outside their normal hours) just so they cannot draw UE for the week. The rules might be slightly different in other states but I think the idea still holds.
I don't think you even have to mess with where the rest of the work is going or any documentation, just talk to the UE office. They will guide you on where you need to be. The nice thing is, once you get the UE claim done, you don't redo it for at least 16 weeks. You just call in whether you worked and if so how much you made each week. If you qualify, you get a check, if not, you just call in the following week. Takes 10 minutes.
They will tell you how much you are eligible for, which is a rate based on your highest wages for 2.5 of the last 5 quarters (again, rules might be slightly different). So, if you did really well last year financially and TT continues to be slow (less than 70% of your UE benefit), you could actually come out ahead by getting 2 checks.

I am working 10 plus hours a day when I have work and find that even without taking any kind of breaks, the line count at the end of the day is extremely low. Anybody else notice this or have any theories?

Used to work inhouse on ExText and that happened to us once. We were not quite sure why we were working so hard and getting so few lines. We were paid by the hour so we let it go on for quite a while. Then our transcription clerk let us know they had changed the parameters that constitued a line. We had gone from 65 to 72 characters per line and were not told. Made a big difference. Just saying...

I've noticed this for a few weeks now. Watch your very short reports, they are now worth 0 lines. Characters in those reports must be below whatever number they are using now and no credit for our work is being given.

I've noticed it too, but thought it was just me. I noticed that now ichart can be up to 100 lines a day LESS than MT Monitor (Scriptwire or whatever it's called) whereas before, it was only off by 15 or so lines. For example, yesterday ichart was 87 lines less than MT Monitor for me. This is crazy.
Noname, how are you working 10 hours a day without getting all kinds of handslaps by the boss lady? Are you like me and work 10 hours but submit 8 hours on your timesheet?
Isnt that what we all have to do - when theres enough work?

If I work 70 hours but tell them I only did 40, how are they to know? And I can give them an "honest" 40 hours spent at my desk, but when I don't make the required lines in that 40 hours, I'm out the door, regardless of the fact that there was no work during the 40 hours I sat there logged picking off the jobs as fast as they came in.
So the MTSOs get to stay innocent. Their sheep are putting in 60 hour weeks trying to get 40 hours worth of work, and the threat of taking away our benefits or shipping the work overseas keeps us unable to do a darned thing about it.

Whoever brings it up, they know it's one of us "troublemakers" on the forum here. And please don't somebody-you know who you are-tell me to "just pick up the phone." We just get fed a line of BS.

Was told that the line counting method had not changed and they didn't know why I was seeing such a difference. I even pretty much spelled it out for them exactly what the difference between ExEditor and Ichart used to be and exactly what just recently changed to.
I feel like the response I got treated me like I am an absolute moron and must be hallucinating and delusional. 2 plus 2 always equals 4 .... even if they won't admit it is 4, I still know it is 4.
Basically, they just cut our pay, thought they would slip it out the backdoor and we would all be too stupid to notice. The dishonesty is is very disheartening, and I feel so taken advantage of. If they are going to cut our pay, they should at least be upfront about it.
I don't know what to do about it either because I believe it is the same just about any MTSO.

I used to get over 100 lines for those long 3-1/2 page reports. Now, I'm getting about 80. Really? I guess they just take for granted that we're stupid? Or are they getting back at us for grumbling about that move they tried with the unpaid "mandatory" HIPPA training?

It's just a theory. I dunno. If you think about it, enough abuse and they'll weed out anybody who expects a salary above minimum wage, then...they've got an excuse to outsource entirely. I truly don't know though.

BTW, I emailed with 3 others who had kept careful records of their production and pay (more than I had), and we had all come to the same conclusion--that the line counts were being massaged, no other explanation possible. BTW, we did lose the account anyway, something we who worked on it all day long were informed of the day before it left.

This smells exactly like what happened to us at MQ. When I asked my TL, she said that the line counting method had changed. After that, she refused to talk about it. And we all know what MQ did, and to whom.
