Superior global, etransplus, or transcend? - overwhelmed

Posted: Mar 17, 2010

I have offers from these companies, similar pay, but etransplus has a better shift. I am not the main bread winner in the house, but I would still like to be able to be paid for my time and the only thing I am worried about is being able to meet minimums with these companies and have enough work to do that. I can type fast, Transcend and Superior Global use escription which I am very good on, but etransplus pays better for big producers. Anyone have anything to say about any of these companies as far as the managers, volume of work, etc?

I work for EtransPlus currently. - wannie

They have 2 platforms. Meditech, which is awful. Acuity is better but not great, but that could be because I was so used to DQS at MQ. They pay on a tiered scale based on the total lines produced for the pay period. Usually have plenty of work, but if there is not enough work (which has only happened during holidays), they don't supplement to give you minimum wage. There is an incentive for shifts other than first, but no weekend differential and since I've been there never any bonus days or anything like that. The folks in the office are generally friendly. They are good to work with you should an emergency arise. Nine days PTO per year. They offer medical insurance, life insurance, and long term disability (no short term). The only thing about the tiered pay is that if something happens that you aren't able to work one day, then your cpl for that pay period drops. Hope this helps!

Yes thank you! one more question - overwhelmed

I have worked with meditech before which I agree is horrible, but is it difficult to get the lines to get the highest pay? The recruiter sent me the info, and it looks like an average of 200 lines/hr, is this really difficult to achieve on their platforms?

Some days it is. - wannie

Sometimes it's hard to get 200 lines per hour for the whole day. Personally, I like platforms where I can perform all the functions that I need to without taking my hands off the keyboard and you can't do that using the VoiceWave player. It's relatively easy to get 1300-1400 lines per day if you keep your mind on work and don't get sidetracked.

Check posts below for this company - pretty negative.

I work for Transcend, and I like it... - CrankyOldBroadOnTheBeach

... but as I always say, others' mileage can and does vary. Widely.

Transcend has accounts both on escription and on straight typing. I have no trouble making the minimum, as I almost always exceed 200 LPH, straight typing. My main account was scheduled to switch over to E mode this week--but there have been some technical issues at the client's end, so it's been put off. I haven't worked in E mode yet so I really have NO idea what kind of production I'm going to be able to crank out when we do switch. Stay tuned.

Cranky, they also have BeyondTx for straight - and VR,correct? NM

Correct. I really like BeyondTXT for straight typing. - CrankyOldBroadOnTheBeach

It's MUCH better than DEP, the platform we came from.

We had our E-mode training last week, and it looks pretty straightforward. I'll know more once we actually get some jobs in that mode....

And the trainer told us that some clients just plain don't want to go to speech wreck. Not only that... if somebody finds that after giving it a good try, they just don't get along with speech wreck, there is still plenty of straight-typing work, and they'll do everything they can to accommodate someone with a straight-tying preference.
Cranky, please do keep us informed. I am - scheduled to s/m

switch over to BeyondTx very soon, first in straight typing mode and then VR. A little anxious about making the $$ with VR. I wonder how long it takes to get up to speed on BeyondTx just straight typing coming from another platform that was quite user friendly. Do you know if MTs get a chance to get up to speed before the line rate goes down?
There are a LOT of things to like about BeyondTXT - CrankyOldBroadOnTheBeach
[ In Reply To ..]
Just one is that we no longer have to worry about a lot of formatting issues, because they take care of it on the back end, and it comes out at the client's end according to THEIR preferences. At our end, we transcribe every account in the exact same format--other than things like the client's date format preference, and whether to put FULL CODE in all caps or not, that sort of thing. But pretty much everything else is done for us.

What do I mean by that? Well... for instance, my primary account likes the paragraph text to start on the next line after the major heading, and my secondary wants it to start on the same line. When we were using DEP, we had to remember things like that. Now, we don't, because they fix it at the back end.

We also do not have to create numbered lists; we bullet them at our end (with a single keystroke command). That way, when they go back and say put such-and-such diagnosis as number 1, when you've already typed 15 diagnoses... we just insert it. We don't have to re-number the whole list. The software numbers the list at the back end--and formats it exactly the way the client wants, as far as any kind of bolding, all caps, etc. We don't have to do ANY of that at our end.

The general theory with going to VR is that they give us AT LEAST 6 weeks to 2 months of straight typing after the migration to BeyondTXT. This is so the software can analyze every single finished report against the corresponding audio file, thus "training" the speech wreck engine.

My primary account migrated on January 27. We were supposed to start speech wreck this week. No sign of it yet, though. We were trained in it last week--and apparently there's really not much to it, just listening to the audio and following along, making corrections where needed. The trainer says she usually sets her speed control at 135 to 150 percent of normal speed--which means she gets through the reports a lot faster than anybody could doing straight typing. (I'm a very fast typist--and my statistics average somewhere around 3 minutes of typing per 1 minute of dictation. So based on what the trainer said, with having to make some edits in a report, worst case scenario, maybe a minute and a half per 1 minute of dictation, that would mean each report would take me half as long. But I could be all wet with that estimate, since I haven't actually done it yet.)

We were also told that if the speech wreck engine seems to be having too much trouble with a particular dictator, we can alert our people and they'll take that dictator back to straight typing mode and work on it some more. They have, I think she said, a 75% accuracy threshold, where if a dictator falls below that, they get switched back. Some dictators never make it to edit mode at all. (We all know who they are... right?) The trainer also said that the engine "learns" from the formatting corrections that we make, if the major headings and subheadings aren't done right; also, when a dictator has those "pet" phrases we all know and love (cough)--you know, where they blast through the physical exam in about 2 seconds flat, and we have long since had somebody ask the doc what they're saying, and then put it into our expanders or sample files, since nobody can actually HEAR what they're saying--anyway, the engine can "learn" from us in those circumstances as well.

Our pay rates stayed exactly the same in BeyondTXT for straight typing. And I was actually going faster in BeyondTXT by the end of the second day working on it.

Again, I have no experience (yet) in the wonderful world of speech wreck, so I can't speak to how quickly one can get up to speed with it. However... since it'll be the same familiar dictators and the same-old-same-old reports, it shouldn't take too long.

Best of luck, take a deep breath, and just remember to take lots of notes during training, and highlight things in the training manual as you go along.

There were a few--a VERY few--things that I liked better about DEP. But off the top of my head, I can only think of about 2, and there are probably about a hundred things I like better about BeyondTXT.... :)

You (and anybody else) are more than welcome to e-mail me if you have more specific questions. I am, as always, crankybeach at yahoo dot com.
That sounds great - sm

That sounds exactly how Escription works, and if it works as well as Escription does, you will really enjoy the speech recognition part. It works great for ESL's too, even though it might be hard for us to understand, they tend to be fairly consistent in their mispronounciation of things, so the engine learns the sound of the word and the way it was typed, so it 'hears' the accent and understands it.
I for one really loved the fact that I saved my hands, I could do more work with less strain and by the end of the week that was so helpful when I would want to do gardening or other projects around the house. Good luck, I really hope it works well for you.

SUPERIOR GLOBAL SOLUTIONS
Nov 14, 2009

I worked about 3-4 weeks for SGS.  The people were really really nice.  The pay was on time.  The problem lies with too many Q.A. people and all having different opinions and no one agreeing on the same thing.  They nick-picked me to pieces.  I had a job come up today and it was a STAT.  I had no idea it was stat.  I was in Q.A. being checked for everything, so I was doing my normal be careful speed and they said hurry it up.  So, I did and then they would not let me have the line count ...

Superior Global - The Pay Was Also Awful
Feb 25, 2010

I've been sending out resumes, and taking tests that must end up in cyberspace, even though I pass them, hear nothing.  Then I hear from Superior Global, passed the test, no problem.  The recruiter calls me, and her dictation is awful, and her command of the English language equally as poor.  I thanked her, and said I'd think about it.  However, that first impression left me less than luke warm.  The recruiter above all people in the company should excel in communication skills, a ...

Superior Global Solutions..anyone QA For Them?
Jan 30, 2011

I have been looking for an hourly QA job for a while now and realizing that I made 18,000 last year with a good education and lots of experience really put the emphasis on how much I want to go hourly.  I am (I think) good at what I do and pride myself on accuracy.  Editing offshore work on production pay isn't working for me at my current position because the reports are a mess and take FOREVER.  At any rate, I've sent out about 8 resumes so far in the last 3 weeks with ...
