Superior Global Solutions in TX - WAHM

Posted: Sep 15, 2011

I cannot for the life of me figure out whether Superior Global Solutions out of Plano, Texas offshores or not.  There is a sentence on their web page that says "....and US and internationally based labor", and I have searched high and low on the web for any kind of good or bad about them and can find nothing!  I have heard now from a couple of people that they are a good company and so I was going to apply until I read that!  I even searched for a list of US medical transcription companies who offshore and all I get back is nothing...so if anyone can help me figure this out I would truly appreciate it!  I just hate it when I can't find something I am looking for!

Just wondering, if they are a decent company to work for, why that would make a difference? Is it the principle of the thing? Just curious.

They do offshore. - sm

They are absolutely the worst company I have ever worked for. Maybe it would work out better for you, but I thought their platform and accounts were the worst and the pay is even worse than that. It was a 90% VR account and I literally could not make more than 5 bucks an hour. I know some people can do well with VR, just not me I guess.

matter of opinion - OldTimer

Well, as with most things, that is a matter of opinion. I work for SGS now and am happy. One needs to be careful taking the opinion of one person on any message board as a reason to either accept or not accept a position with a company. I almost did not take this position with SBS based on some negative stuff I read about the company posted on this web site by some past unhappy employees. I am glad I went with my gut feeling and took the job. I am new at it so time will tell. Again, as far as going on what is voiced, often adamantly on a forum such as this, use your own judgment and experience in dealing with the company representative(s)....

I just went to work for them about 3 wks ago and I'm a happy camper. I would highly recommend working for them as compared to several other companies I've worked for, some big and some small!

Off shoring isn't going to stop, so why not - make money where you can.

Have you ever tried customer service and got someone where english is a second language? Dell, norton, sears, etc all outsource customer overseas, not to mention a host of others.

Why not make money where you can? - Old Pro

Because sending American jobs offshore is immoral. As to the "everybody is doing it" argument: If everybody robbed a bank, would you do it, too? Just food for thought.

If it comes down to paying bills or having a job - or being broke what would you choose?

[ In Reply To ..]
Have you looked at the tags on your clothes, where some of your food comes from, when you call customer service for something that is bought, they are all from overseas. Should someone on the verge of losing everything stand on principles or take that job.

I have been there (very poor, thanks to MQ) and I still stood on principles. I would rather sacrifice the daily necessities than abandon my integrity.

Old Pro,
I admire your integrity, and I am glad you can get by without accepting a position from a company that offshores. I have gotten good advice from you on this forum and respect you...BUT, if you have children to feed and you get a job with a company that offshores, you are doing the right thing. I wish personal protests would keep jobs in America, but we are just too small, and our personal protests will do nothing. MT work is good, honest work that requires skills, and yes, there have been changes in our profession that we don't like, like offshoring, but I think many of us do what we have to do. If that means our company offshores, we don't like it, but we have a job, and we pay the bills, so we stick with it. The alternative is all of us on public assistance all the time. I don't like that companies do it, but I think it's beyond our control.

what? - ambient

Robbing a bank is a felony. Working for a company who offshores part of their work is not a crime, not against the law. Wow, what a stretch.

Work for SGS .. Not work for SGS ... this is the question. - GUEST

SGS is the only company I see out there that takes in newbies. You are in an internship program for 3 months. They pay you your state's minimum wage. Once the internship is up they send you an offer of .02 cents a line for editing and then .06 for straight typing. Only problem is you might get 2 reports a day that you have to type and the rest is editing. There are days when you get no typing at all. If you were able to make the 1200 lines a day ... that would be $24.00 for an 8 hour shift minus taxes and so on. That isn't even close to minimum wage. They only push you 1 report at a time. You can't see the pool at all. The QA people are not only going over your work and getting paid for what you produce but they are also typing reports and editing as well and getting paid for that. They push for you to get your line count but then they have you quit early when work runs low. They will ask you to work earlier and later than your normal shift and even your days off... saying they have so much work and need your help and that you will get overtime....except you work all this for them and then they make you take off early so you don't end up getting overtime before the pay period ends. Are they nice? Yes, they are nice... as they promise you this that and the other and build you up and so on. Funny, they were trying to get people to take the night shifts once the internship was over right.... saying that it would yeild more cents per line and so on ... then all of a sudden the "company" decided that they would not offer that anymore LMAO... THAT IS AFTER THEY HAD PEOPLE WRITE EMAILS SAYING THAT THEY WOULD TAKE THE NIGHT POSITIONS. These people are very very very very slick... I have to give them credit for that. They are listed as being out of Plano, Texas. However, don't be fooled because they also work for MQ along with many others. SGS is listed with the BBB of Texas as a "temporary staffing business" ... check it out!!! They are not accredited with the BBB in Texas either! You have people on here running at the mouth about SGS and they don't know Jack. You have people who have worked for a few weeks and still can't see what is about to hit them lol. I also know for a fact that the higher up folks from SGS read the boards and post at mtstars hahaha. Do your homework MTs and check these places out well before diving in first. First of all they should be ashamed to use these people from India as slaves. But then, that is the American way right? I want everyone to think about this one... Career Step is on all of the websites for these MT companies. These companies get a cut for every course that is sold from their website. Take a look also at Career Step's site and YOU can add their logo to your facebook or any site and sell their course and get paid for being an affiliate. Okay, then take a look at the "careers" or "jobs" section on the MT business sites who promote that you take a course with Career Step. You will then see that you need YEARS of experience before they will consider hiring you LOL. Oh, you have some like MQ who will say they will consider you if you take the Career Step course ... but then you will end up working for someone like SGS who subcontracts for MQ LOL. You will never earn the money back that you have spent with Career Step either working for someone like that! When you take the course with Career Step they have different people who grade your final exams. They will fail you at least once because they make more money the longer they keep you in. They try to make it to where you have to renew for 3 months even if you don't need 3 months time. They will not let you renew for 1 month at a time only. They will feed you a line of crap every single time to keep you in their course because they are making money off of you! If you can't see what is happening here you must be blind! It is the biggest scam that there is... and there is no job at the end of the rainbow like they try to make people believe. AND... the problem that people are having now that have YEARS of experience...well they are turning them down and pointing them in the direction of getting certified in order to be hired .... and of course it is CAREER STEP that they want you to take since it is on their websites and they are getting paid if they can make you believe you need to take this in order to get a job! SGS will even give you a fancy title when you accept their offer of .02 cents a line ... you are now our new JUNIOR MT.... LMAO. Someone should investigate them deeper... something smells here bad!!!

Do they provide equipment? - Curious

SUPERIOR GLOBAL SOLUTIONS

I worked about 3-4 weeks for SGS.  The people were really really nice.  The pay was on time.  The problem lies with too many Q.A. people and all having different opinions and no one agreeing on the same thing.  They nick-picked me to pieces.  I had a job come up today and it was a STAT.  I had no idea it was stat.  I was in Q.A. being checked for everything, so I was doing my normal be careful speed and they said hurry it up.  So, I did and then they would not let me have the line count ...

Superior Global Solutions..anyone QA For Them?
Jan 30, 2011

I have been looking for an hourly QA job for a while now and realizing that I made 18,000 last year with a good education and lots of experience really put the emphasis on how much I want to go hourly.  I am (I think) good at what I do and pride myself on accuracy.  Editing offshore work on production pay isn't working for me at my current position because the reports are a mess and take FOREVER.  At any rate, I've sent out about 8 resumes so far in the last 3 weeks with ...

My Experience With Superior Global Solutions
Dec 19, 2011

To sum it up, I just got back from the unemployment office. But for more details of it, here ya go.   I had just become certified and was notified of a paid 90-day internship with Superior Global Solutions (SGS). I quickly accepted the offer given that so many people I know have such a hard time finding work in their field. This internship popped up a week after becoming certified. I just wanted experience more than anything. I went through the 90-day internship with SGS and was really ...

Superior Global Solutions - Passed Their Tests
Mar 15, 2011

Passed their tests.  They wrote me a congratulatory email and a phone call that told me I passed.  Told me I needed Word 2003 (do you know how HARD it is to get Word 2003 anymore?).  Cost me $140.00 but I got it.  Sent in computer specifications, passed.  Gave former employer 5 days notice (SGS wouldn't hold my new job for 2 weeks, gave me only 5 days).  Received paperwork in email in the morning.  By 2 PM, received phone call, "we are withdrawing our job offer".  When I could get ...

Recently Interviewed With Superior Global Solutions
Jun 13, 2013

I recently interviewed for this company. Spoke with a recruiter and hiring manager. They were offering 2nd and 3rd shifts. They provide 12 PTO days per year to be used after the first 3 months, 401 K, and benefits. The accounts they offered me were 100% domestic; however, they do off-shore some of their other accounts. Both gals seemed very nice, but the pay is very low. They pay 0.38 cpl for VR edited lines and 0.83 cpl for transcribed lines with 90% of their work being VR editing. How can one ...
