Softscript was the worst experience of my life. Their software sucks - just about all applications within their program are slow, slow, slow - couldn't get any lines. Go figure. Do not waste your time with this company.

Sorry to hear you had to go through that experience. I went through it as well a couple of years ago. Things never change do they?

I have been doing this 25 years and this is my first go round with an MTSO. So far, I hate it. I have three accounts and can only make money on one of them. I spent the entire day today on hospital transcription and it was interesting, but every dictation was from a different MD, PA, RN, NP. I couldn't save exams or create any shortcuts. It was brutal. On top of that, the QA at SS is a joke. I'm told one thing by one QA and then something different by another QA. It's maddening! They are also super nit picky in their editing. One of their comments today was "whatever symbol you're using here instead of a space get rid of it!" Really? I'm using your freakin' template. If that symbol is in there, it's in your software.

I'm fed up and I will sleep on it tonight, but after only two weeks I'm ready to give my two week notice. I've met some nice people there and I'm sure people can make money with SS, but I think it depends on the accounts you get. Poop rolls down hill so I'm sure those of us who just started get the accounts that aren't particularly financially rewarding. I did appreciate the lack of ESL dictators, though.

I still have private accounts that pay extremely well, but I needed to add some more work. Forget it....I'll go work at Starbucks or Borders and have a lot more fun....and probably make more money.

My accounts have nothing but ESLers!! I feel like I'm working at the frickin' United Nations most days!

After spending weeks agonizing aoout conflicting opinions/comments from QA I said, "Screw it." I suggest you do the same. As long as you stay 98% and above (which you will unless you make an actual medical mistake--not talking commas or super-picky minimal points-off choices) you will be fine. I also used to agonize about the snippy QA comments I get/used to get, and also thought screw it. As long as I get paid...whatever.

I have one account and the doc is Indian, but I can understand him perfectly. I believe he was educated here. I got one DS yesterday from a woman with a heavy accent, but she spoke slower than any of them and once you got the lay of the land she was easy to understand.

I am shocked as well at the lack of ESL's on my accounts.

By the way, got the e-mail this morning that I'm off hold so no more QA! Gah....it seemed like such a power trip for some of the editors. Pick, pick, pick. Glad that's done.....for now. I did finally get to the point where I said screw it. I just typed it the way I thought it should be typed according to the account specs and let it fly. Somehow I managed to come in at 98.4%.

Today was decent. Averaged an acceptable hourly wage.

Are you the one who posted above under "SS bites?" If so, I sent you an e-mail. ;-)

Qmanager says, "just check back every 1/2 hour." And of course 4 hours later, still nothing. Yet they keep hiring. Bah humbug.

They have a high turnover rate. They also don't seem to give much feedback to their employees. Think if you were an experienced MT you might do okay with them, but not as a new one with no other assistance.

So I was hired by SoftScript 2 wks ago and completed training which was not bad. Was put on 2 clinic accts and had work for 2 days and no work since! Emails from company saying volume is low, have patience, yada yada. THEN I see that they are posting ads on mtjobs.com for more MTs! Flip me out! Lately I have not bee doing well, short on line count, a few bad audits, I am in the dog house. I now have a fear that a I too will be let go. It is hard to work like this, wish I could just quit, but cannot right now, maybe in a few months, unless they terminate me. I understand the policy, 150 LPH, but sometimes I just cannot make it, dictators are bad, unfamiliar accounts. When it is good, it is good, but when it is bad, it is bad! What if the extremely lower than ever volumes (OOW on 3 accounts at a time) is because some of the acute worktypes are being converted to ambulatory care WT since more and more patients are kept in observation status or "extended recovery" instead of being admitted. W(c)ould not some of those same-day surgery types perhaps be called ambulatory? We would likely be kept in the dark about that just like everything else, don't you reckon?
