Oracle or Landmark? and why? - Tom72

Posted: Sep 23, 2010

Which one would you choose, and why?  (I am experienced on Bayscribe, a platform they both use.)

I saw the Oracle add. Does anyone know what they pay? - need a job

Or what ASR pay is?

Oracle pay - sm

8 cpl for transcription, 4 cpl for ASR. IC only.

Landmark - Landmarker

I work for them as an IC and have for about 2 years now. I really like them. My account has steady work. QA is good - helpful, but not intrusive. You're not inundated with e mails and junk all day long. In fact, I rarely hear from them unless it's e mails letting us know about changes in templates or messages being passed along from the doctors about things. They leave you along and let you do your work.

Pay has always been accurate and on time.

Do you have enough work? Are you fulltime? What platform do you use? Thank you.

not my experience with LM - dmz

Supposedly my "acct" got cancelled suddenly (that very afternoon) and there were "no other positions" so I sought other work. I found QA for the particular acct I was on very tedious, nitpicky to the point where I was glad the acct got cancelled (if indeed it was)...it was a bayscribe acct, but my experience with QA was terrible - it could have been the hospital specifics that were anal, but I never looked back after that acct supposedly got cancelled, just found something else to do.

My concern would be whether there would be enough work. I already have my application in someplace else; will see what happens. Thanks for the information. I am looking for Bayscribe-based work. I know Oracle and LM use it. Any others out there who use Bayscribe?
Landmark - ExLMer

Tom, if you apply to Landmark, make sure to inquire if it is an overflow account you'll be working on or if it's their actual account.

I found the people at LM fine and had no problems with QA; however, most of the time there was not enough work on my accounts to even bring in a decent part-time supplement. Also, the overflow accounts I was on had horrid audio quality from being recorded and re-recorded multiple times. Even with the volume all the way up and no other outside noise, I could barely hear the dictators. After completing a few reports, I'd have a blinding headache from straining so hard to hear that I'd almost be glad when I did run out of work early to give my ears (and overworked brain) some rest, lol!

Good luck, whichever way you decide to go; however, if you're looking for a FT gig, make sure and find out from LM if what you are being hired for is an overflow account.

I'm on Bayscribe. Yes, I have enough work. I have gone part time with them, as I got a job with a comparable line rate at a company with employee status. When I was working FT, though, I did have enough work and the only times it really slowed down were around the holidays. There was a slow down when spring break came, too, but it didn't last long. I'm on a clinic account.

There's another poster who says "everyone's mileage may vary" when it comes to MTSOs. My great experience with a company could be the next person's horror story. I have nothing bad to say about the company, though, and have had only good experiences with them.

IC? Does LM offer that? & also (sm) - kacey

did anybody experience a pay cut recently there? know somebody who works there and they did, a big cut with hardly any notice, but they claim it wasn't their work it was supposed to be the account paying less. Doesn't make sense & don't know what to believe. What is happening to this industry? What is going on at these companies?

Yes they do offer IC - Landmarker

[ In Reply To ..]
I think it depends on the account, though. I'm an IC with them.

I don't know about Landmark's account, but I do know that a recruiter with another good-sized company told me that they had just been underbid on a potential new account by a larger MTSO that off shored and that there was no way the company I was talking to could compete since they refuse to go offshore. The rate she told me was something in the 9 to 10 cpl range that the MTSO was charging the customer. You know if they're charging the customer that little, they're not paying much for the MTs.

I also know that I had foolishly told somoene what I was making at Landmark and they applied and were surprised and a little angry when the account they got hired for didn't pay the same rate, and it was in fact lower.

I think the rates the Mts make depend quite a bit on how much that particular client is willing to shell out. that's just my impression, though.

It sucks that they didn't give anyone notice that the pay rate would change, but accounts come up for renewal probably annually, possibly every two or three years. Sometimes it's a choice of keeping the business at a lower rate or losing it entirely.

To Tom72 - my experience

I work for LM on a Bayscribe account. Pay is okay, always right, always on time. QA is not a problem. Tons of ESL.

LM Health Benefits - orlmt

[ In Reply To ..]
Is anyone partaking of their health benefits? If so, would give a quick breakdown for employee-only medical?

benefits - mt

Depends on what state you live in, but approximately $215-250/month for employee only.

Anyone Know What's Up With Oracle/OTI?
Jan 31, 2010

I haven't had much work for months.  Since last summer actually.  Can never make minimum.  I have another part-time job so I'll survive, and I do like that company on a whole, but there has been NO WORK.  They keep promising new accounts that never happen.  Is it just me?  Are there some Oracle workers that are happy and have enough work? I know sometimes it is famine time as an MT, but this is ridiculous. I wonder if they lost some big accounts or somethi ...

Anyone Get The Job With Oracle - OTI??
Nov 13, 2012

Sounds like a pretty reasonable place to work. Hardly ever read any posts here about them so I assume, no news is good news and their employees must be fairly content. Just curious, as they seldom hire. I applied, but I am acute care/hospital transcription and they were looking for people to fill multispecialty clinic account, so folks who have an extensive background in clinic work. Just curious if anyone has started and how they like it. Also curious if there are any who have been with ...

No one answers my emails when I ask why my accounts have no work. It's been going on for a very long time, but so much worse now.  I thought a new account was going ot start, but I haven't heard a word about it.  Is something going on that I don't know about?  I realize they were going to be switching to more SR and MTs weren't all that happy about it (my own pay will be 1.5 CPL lower and only 4CPL for SR work), but what happened?I absolutely hate coming to a r ...

Oracle/OTI Transcription
Dec 10, 2010

I've just started working with Oracle, and seem to like it okay so far. However, I am reading all these posts here about pay decreases, no work, and no communication. Is this all sudden and not typical of them? I'm a little worried now. I know lots of companies get bashed on this board and some for silly reasons, but I was wondering if there was any truth behind the posts here, or if it's just a few "unhappy" MTs. Anything you can share would be great! Thanks so much! ...

I haven't seen any recent posts about a lack of work at Oracle.  Have things settled down to where everyone has sufficient work?  I'm working for them PT and have only had 1-2 occasions where I've run out of work; however, my FTE is running out of work on an increasingly frequent basis and, if there's sufficient work at Oracle, I'd be interested in switching over to them as a FT position. Oracle/OTI Question
Apr 27, 2011

I know that Oracle/OTI's ASR is done on Bayscribe.  I have worked on Bayscribe before and like the platform (for straight typing anyway as that's all I've done on Bayscribe).   But my question, is Oracle's ASR as good as I've been told?  The pay that they're offering sounds pretty low, especially for an IC, but I was told that could be made up for by the increased number of lines produced.  Anyone here with experience with them?  Is i ...

Just Applied At Oracle
Jun 07, 2012

I just applied at Oracle.  I don't understand what they pay per line.  It says they have eScription as one of their platforms.  They want 3500 LPH part-time, 5000 LPH full-time.  Are they still in business or really hiring.  I was able to get onto their site but I seem to find things about them that are old - like comments.  Also, are they a big company?    Thank you.  ...
