How is Oracle to work for?

Do they hire as employee or IC? Acute care or clinic work? How is the pay? What is their platform like? Any info appreciated.

Oracle advertised a few months ago for account, Bayscribe platform. I applied, sent my resume and heard.....nothing! guess they are not hiring. Would love love love to work for them.

Loved them. If the rate was better, I would have stayed - they were not hiring last I spoke with them about 6 weeks ago. If they offered me what I am making now, I'd go back in a second. Loved the work, never being bothered and Bayscribe. If you're good at what you do, it's easy to do 350-400 lines per hour. JMO. I never ran out of work, always had backup accts if needed. Again, I don't believe they are hiring at this time.

I was just asked by them to send my resume. But, you know, I am 54 years old. I have been trying to go back to work for 3 years. I believe that I am being discriminated against because of my age. Now, I have sent thousands and thousands of resumes for the past 3 years. I just don't know what is going on. I still continue to look, though.

I'm older than you and due to a company layoff several weeks ago have been job hunting. Was offered employment by every company I applied for and will be starting work next week. Maybe you need to fine tune your resume? Certainly don't include your birth date, etc.

Maybe they just filled the slots before your resume was received. They don't engage in age discrimination at Oracle or they wouldn't have hired me.

And they paid a big fine for it too, just this past year (2010). Just google Oracle Transcription and Americans with Disabilities Act and you can't miss it.

So if OTI would discriminate like that against a disabled MT, how can you be so sure that they wouldn't also discrimate against MTs on the basis of age? It would be interesting to see what the overall average age of Oracle MTs is.

I was recruited unsolicited today by another company and I am pushing 70! (I told them no.) I don't think age matters.

I am 52 and I work at OTI ... I don't think age is an issue. sm - Colorado MT

I do sympathize with your plight, though. The job market is tougher than it used to be, as we all know, and if you have been off for 3 years, that may be the issue, rather than your age, as most ads that I see mention that they want recent experience. I'm sure something will turn up. Good luck! :-)

I've been there about 8 months and, although there were a couple of slow patches when the account for which I was hired came on board, it's been bliss. Especially compared to the company I had been slaving away for at less than minimum wage. After all these months, I still love it there.

I have been working for them since June this year. I left MQ (after 15 years - yuck). I am very happy at OTI. The flexibility is a big plus for me. The people are very nice and helpful. The pay is a little low for IC but as my benefit rate was steadily decreasing at MQ, it is nearly the same at OTI. The account is straight typing.

Sounds like a pretty reasonable place to work. Hardly ever read any posts here about them so I assume, no news is good news and their employees must be fairly content. Just curious, as they seldom hire. I applied, but I am acute care/hospital transcription and they were looking for people to fill multispecialty clinic account, so folks who have an extensive background in clinic work. No one answers my emails when I ask why my accounts have no work. It's been going on for a very long time, but so much worse now. I thought a new account was going ot start, but I haven't heard a word about it. Is something going on that I don't know about? I've just started working with Oracle, and seem to like it okay so far. However, I am reading all these posts here about pay decreases, no work, and no communication. Is this all sudden and not typical of them? I'm a little worried now. I haven't seen any recent posts about a lack of work at Oracle. Have things settled down to where everyone has sufficient work? I'm working for them PT and have only had 1-2 occasions where I've run out of work; however, my FTE is running out of work on an increasingly frequent basis and, if there's sufficient work at Oracle, I'd be interested in switching over to them as a FT position. I know that Oracle/OTI's ASR is done on Bayscribe. I have worked on Bayscribe before and like the platform (for straight typing anyway as that's all I've done on Bayscribe). But my question, is Oracle's ASR as good as I've been told? I just applied at Oracle. I don't understand what they pay per line. It says they have eScription as one of their platforms. They want 3500 LPH part-time, 5000 LPH full-time. Are they still in business or really hiring. I was able to get onto their site but I seem to find things about them that are old - like comments. Also, are they a big company? Thank you. ...
