Nuance Shifts - JA78

Hi..I was wondering if there is anyone here who works 3rd shift at Nuance. I have worked there for about a year and was always told the US team couldn't work past 10 EST, but lately I have seen a lot of ads from them hiring for 3rd shift. Does anyone work that shift and, if so, is there always enough work? Thanks.

After I finally got 4 accounts to work on, I had enough to keep me busy. I run out occasionally, but not too often.

I work 11 pm to 7 am CST.

When I worked there the account I was on had a "follow the sun" rule so that when the sun went over to the other side of the world, so did the work, so no work for the on-shore team after about 10 pm. Not all of their accounts are like that, though, so there are some that do have a graveyard shift.

My old team lead always said that we couldn't work past 10 so that makes sense. It doesn't really seem fair, but that probaly explains it. Thank you.

The accounts they are hiring for 3rd shift are clients who have it in their contract that ALL WORK MUST BE DONE IN THE US.

Could be that they are being forced to bring some of that work back over here if they are renewing account contracts or getting new contracts and the clients are not wanting their work to leave the country.

Hence, opening up work for US MTs to work 3rd shift at their company.

I think anytime a company tells you US MTs cant work past 10pm, it's safe to assume that after 10pm the work leaves the country.

I work for Nuance 2nd shift. At 10 p.m. my time, there is a daily note saying "all us mt to stop work on ____ account". You know where that work is going.

I work Sun-Thurs 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and just started this shift 2 weeks ago. That was within a day or two of my account starting on Escription, and so far, there's been plenty of work until this past Thursday when I ran out. Not sure what happened, but there was definitely a lot less work. I really don't think we have any off-shore MTs on my account so I'm hoping we just had people working extra to take care of the backlog. I've been on this particular account for nearly a year, and there's never been a shortage of work except around the holidays.

I work third shift part-time. I work Sunday through Friday, 9:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.; however, I do usually end up starting my shift 1 or 2 hours later trying to get my son to bed. I had trouble with no work when I first started working for them back in July, but I was added onto another account and now I have no problem.

There are companies, which I know have outsourced a majority of work to India, that are seeking US MTs but only for 2nd and/or 3rd shifts. Curious as to why seeing as how when it is 8:00 a.m. here (central) it is 7:00 p.m. in India and the rationale in sending all of our work to India is because companies supposedly couldn't find adequate coverage for 2nd and 3rd shifts here in the states, yet that is exactly what they are hiring for...no 1st shifts available, or very few, in the stat ...

Has anyone else had the call from CCM asking you to switch shifts or to move to graveyards? What have you done? I work a late split shift already Tuesday through Saturday and got a call about why I missed work (NJA). I don't think I can work a third shift and don't know how far they will push this. get is horrible. 80% of my reports this morning have been ESL's who I swear were dictating in their sleep. Slurred speech, impossible to understand. Blanks galore today. The kinda shift that makes you wonder if youeven know what you are doing. Have a question on shifts. Many of the jobs on the boards say 2nd or 3rd shift. In the MT world does that mean 3 to 11 p.m. and 11 to 7 a.m. or is it 4 p.m. to 12 and 12 to 8 a.m.? I have not had a position for a straight shift before, but split my shift at my last job to get in my 8 hours. TIA. :) ...

I have noticed all these companies now are paying about 7cpl or 7.5 cpl and 3/3.5 for VR. I remember 12 years ago when I first started 7cpl was starting pay for right out of school. I eventually went up to almost 9cpl before transition to Nuance. Of course the pay went down after that and now once again. Back then 9-10cpl was seen and with MTs who had been doing it a while. I left a message in post to another post about the Swap (swamp) Board. I had wayyy too many hours showing I had scheduled to work. I normally only work 24 hours week (48 hours pay period or maybe 54 at the most). Mine said 66.50 hours scheduled to work. I don't recall asking to pick up that many hours here and there. Saw 2 ads posted here alone this week, perhaps there were more. Is it me or is this blantant disregard for IRS rules for IC. These ads state specific shifts and state for IC. Aren't these chancy moves on the part of the MTSO to actually put it in print publicly? Can't they get in trouble just for that? I am curious if anyone is an at-home transcriptionist who works for a hospital and how the department covers weekend shifts/hours. Also curious what kind of hours you are required to work during the week and how many people are on the transcription team. According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive. In addition (if this poster is accurate) they have again cut the overall pay from 8 and 4 to 3 3/4 AND 7 1/2. This is nothing but a bunch of crapploa...an MT who is now getting ...

I thought they were 2 different services. Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows. All the small companies have been merged I guess. I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR. Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

Does anyone know why the ad says "No inquiries from overseas" when they obviously offshore the work? Anyone reading that would incorrectly assume they do not offshore. I was reading an article in the newspaper that a journalist was talking about a few days ago regarding the hospital outsourcing to the Web/Nuance, and the spokesperson for the hospital said in the article that the company only employs US MTs. ...
