No work for weeks at Trans Tech yet they - still advertise

I have been out of work for weeks - having to search through numerous backup accounts (4) and check at all hours and still can't make lines.  I have been there for 5 years and have gone through some low work periods, but this is by far the worst.  Paycheck is cut in half at least.   I know I am not alone here.  I am sick to think they are going to add more MTs when the ones they have are struggling because of overstaffing and most likely now outsourcing via Imedx.

What kind of changes with merger? - curious

Have employees been told what kind of changes will take place with merger? Pay scale lowered, etc.?

I don't work for Trans Tech. I'm an IC but my company loses accounts they never bother to tell us, and then the remaining accounts gets spread out. That's where things are at now. No light at the end of this tunnel.

It just seems that all of the MTs are jumping around on several accounts trying to get work. I have been told that volumes are low on some accounts but not sure why they are low - but it did happen pretty quickly after the merger; whether that is the issue or not I don't know.

I feel like there is an overstaffing problem, which is why I can't believe they are advertising for more MTs when many of us, who were/are big producers, sit idle.


We have been told NOTHING since the merger. Communication was never a strong suit, though.

I'm starting to think the ACA is having something to do with it. Low work is pretty widespread right now even on accounts that are normally busy. I know it has been at mine, and ours is usually hopping. But so many people lost their insurance, can't afford the "affordable" care, or now have such high deductibles and the like, I think people are not going to the doctor unless something falls off or spurts blood.

I agree with the ACA thought. My brother was scheduled to have shoulder surgery. Sm - Oldie

He lost his insurance. Company said due ti ACA. When he got new insurance, the deductible is 6500 so no surgery.

I was at the doctor's the other day and there was a woman there whose deductible has been changed to 8K! Can you imagine?

We quickly looked into different insurance. We did like the insurance we had but we couldn't afford the deductibles on top of the co-pays and it was all due to ACA.

Exactly what happened when I worked for TT - Former TT MT

This is exactly what happened 2 years ago when I worked for TT. Exact same scenario. I had 4 accounts, and promised nothing was wrong, and they had not lost their accounts. I waited and waited, thinking this was just a lull in work, but then after not getting any work some days and sitting around making no money, I was really fed up with what was happening. I was lied to about the work and found out they had 1 of the accounts I was working on taken away from the company. I asked almost every day if I was going to get work, will this last, and again I was not told the truth. I asked for a replacement account and they told me that I would have one son...it never happened. I also found out that the MT night supervisor was skimming off work to keep herself within her lines, and one of the accounts she had was the one I was losing work on. I did not make my line counts on more than 1 occasion and explained the reason why, but they said that if I did not reach that line count I was not going to be kept on as an MT with the company. I tried very hard to do that, but with no work on 4 accounts, and none coming in I could not longer afford to stay with the company.

As soon as I found out about the "merger" (more like takeover/buyout in my opinion), I quit. Having been through a "merger" several years ago, I absolutely saw this coming and refused to go through it again. They will tell you exactly what you want to hear to keep you hanging on in hopes that things will get better, but it's nothing but blatant lies.

The ACA, offshoring, whatever, the last thing they should be doing is looking for more MTs when the ones they have don't have enough work.

Plus, while I think the ACA may negatively affect some people, the vast majority of people using the healthcare system are the elderly who are on Medicaid/Medicare. I also think that we would be hearing on the news about healthcare facilities sitting idle because of ACA - and I haven't heard that, but I don't do Faux News.

I have been with TT for a long time. Last pay period was the first time ever I got the e-mail about not meeting line count minimum. I was always a high producer, but you can't produce when there is no work. My life does not allow me to jump in and out looking for work all day and night, that is why I have a set schedule that I am expected to adhere to. This is the same thing that happened at my old company. They got bought out by MQ, the work dried up, then was thrown into the cesspool of too many to count accounts, which made it impossible to make any money. I have been doing this for 25+ years. I am so sad to say it, but I am giving up. I will be going to work for my husband (jumping from the frying pan into the fire). I can't tolerate having a schedule because that is what they require, but then sitting around waiting for work. TT was a great company to work for while it lasted, the best I ever worked for, but all good things come to an end. I am really going to miss it :(

Im glad you have new employment. I also did the MQ thing with the cesspool and then came to TT. TT has been an awesome place to work. Im so sad to see it go.

I would think if they have their current employees sitting with no work they shouldn't be looking for more people to hire and sit around with no work. As soon as the merger happened, my work dried up. I don't know if anybody knew anything about the "merger," but I had no clue, came as a shock to me. I haven't quit yet, trying to give it a chance, but it is not looking good. :(

Seriously, you must work for a different part of TT, we have had more work than we could shake a stick at, at least from 3:00 p.m. on....Bonus time. I hate to see them hire for this, but I can understand why.
