Probably a mgmt reply to you -- they have no to little work. If you need a paycheck to support yourself, it would be wise to move on from the MT business. Transtech has gone to all VR and reduced the MT's pay by 1/2 per line.
Nice people when you speak to them on the phone does NOT earn the MT a living. My advice would be cautious.
All these MTSO's are out for themselves and carefully taking from the MT's pay in order to keep their paychecks HIGH and HIGHER -- wonderful BONUSES, etc., etc.
The medical language specialist is NO LONGER appreciated b/c the foreigners are taking out work for much less and MT's are willing to ACCEPT less and less money, rather than changing professions.
McDonald's would be equal pay and much better benefits.
Oh, I beg to differ - NOT A SUIT, HAPPY TTER

Okay, I have to interject here. I've been VERY happily at TT for over a year now. My account has AMPLE work on which a crew of specially-selected MTs work (it's a specialty account). The ONLY times I have run short on work is at the holidays, and I have one backup account if my primary does run out, and two more backup accounts coming up.
The people I've dealt with, from the owner to the manager to my account supervisor have all be exemplary. Excellent communication, sometimes even randomly call just to see how I'm doing and that I'm still enjoying the account.
Personal problem? Never had the pleasure of working with such a wonderful, understanding group of folks. Seriously.
I have ample work. I am paid accurately on time, every time. I have great communication with my account manager. Frequent bonuses are offered when the account is backed up. No overstaffing, plenty of work for all.
In the MTSO world, I'd say TT is right at the top of pile. Lots of integrity, competitive pay, etc. If you've not yet doubled your productivity on editing, ask your manager about taking VR refresher courses so you can sharpen your skills and you'll be netting your prior salary in no time. It just takes practice to get the hang of VR, which is a whole different world than straight typing.
I'm not a suit, but if you choose to label me a "cheerleader," I'll grab my pom poms and wear the title with pride.
I won't bother responding any of the ridiculous "management plant" absurdities that will undoubtedly follow my post. I'm an MT just like everyone else on these boards who have found a "home" with TT and am VERY content with them. Just because an MTSO is keeping up with technology and has implemented VR does NOT make them "the enemy."
must have something to do with length of - employment with them

I have been there over 4 years and the first 2-1/2 were the best ever, though I must say no-one has EVER called to see how I am doing...... but the last year and a half has been strictly down-hill. Just my personal experience, and though I do still like the job overall it could definitely be better.
Beg to differ - tiredMME

I have been reading this board for a couple of days now, looking for a company that had some positive feedback. Someone said a few days ago I was brainwashed after working for MQ for 11+ years. I was so nice to see some positive information. As a matter of fact I just finished filling out my application for your company. If they have hiring bonuses, we need to chat so I can let them know just how positive and respectful you are of the industry and the job. Thanks. Hope I will be on board with you soon. My specialty or fav job is QA, not sure if they have any openings, but hey, what the heck. again, thank you for making me feel better about the job. I thought I was the only one who wanted to succeed here. Tired of reading the negative.

Maybe they place MTs based on attitude and flexibility - TTer

I've got ample work on my primary but just 2 days ago received an email from my manager about the two NEW accounts coming on board, all set and ready to go. One's on board now (small account), and the other is a huge account coming on in 3 stages over a 3-month period.
The new accounts are in fact in the process of coming on board.
Perhaps they select which MTs will be on these accounts based on employee attitude and flexibility? I believe both of these are VR accounts and, to be honest, I think perhaps MTs that are resistive to VR or have thus far refused to learn it are selling themselves short and thus aren't being included in the group selected to handle these accounts. They need MTs who have taken the opportunity to learn and get up to speed on VR for these accounts when they go live.
Maybe I'm way off base. All I know is the only time I've ever run short on my primary was during the holidays and, even at that, I certainly had an option of working on another account where there was plenty of work if I so chose.
I've been around the block many times in my career, and IMHO, TT just is the best out there right now. They're moving ahead with technology and my editing fingers are following right along with them.
And, no, hate to disappoint you, but I am most assuredly NOT a suit. Not unless my capris and tank top count, lol!
Would like to hear your experiences. Would you say Trans Tech is similar to the late MDI-MD (when it was MDI-MD) as far as being responsive to its employees, being left alone to do your job, pleasant QA people, good communication? ...
anyone willing to share about the schedules at TransTech, if you have plenty of work during your scheduled shift or do you have to do a lot of flexing outside your schedule to meet production? . . and also what the ratio is of straight transcription to voice rec on the oncology accounts? Any help is appreciated. TIA ...
I have been out of work for weeks - having to search through numerous backup accounts (4) and check at all hours and still can't make lines. I have been there for 5 years and have gone through some low work periods, but this is by far the worst. Paycheck is cut in half at least. I know I am not alone here. I am sick to think they are going to add more MTs when the ones they have are struggling because of overstaffing and most likely now outsourcing via Imedx. ...
Does anyone have any recent info on any of these companies? Also, are their benefits any good? These are the ones that I've heard about most often on here and have heard the best comments about, so I'm thinking about applying with them... Positive and negative comments welcome. ...
anybody heard of Katonia Tech Solutions? I requested info on them to be an IC, and the said they would pay 3 cpl. I have not yet graduated from my MT course... does that sound too low of pay for someone new.. and not even out of school yet? ...
What is the web-based platform they now use and how do/did you like it? Looking to hear from anyone who works/worked with this company and can share their experiences. Are lines still hard to reach? Do they have more than one platform? prntype was not a favorite back in 2009 -- is this the only platform they have?

im 48 and need to get out of MT altogether, i cant afford to make it in this economy. Im going to be moving in with a friend for a while to rebuild and want to take some classes.
I do not have a degree of any kind. What do you think would be the fastest route to at least make above 40 grand a year? The medical coding or the a rad tech of some sort? Even thought about occupational therapy but that program may take more than 2 years. I need something within about 18 ...
A local hospital is hiring a medical records tech. For experience, all they ask is basic computer experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and a h.s. diploma. Hmmmmm...I've had the terminology certificate for a year, plus a completion certificate for MT and several specialty certs, and I passed the RMT exam.
Think I ought to take a shot at this even though I have no prior experience with filing, records, etc.? ...
I have been a medical transcriptionist for 20+ years and worked at home for 10 of those.
I started working outside of the house after my kids got older but decided I really missed the flexibility of working at home. I recently interviewed for a position with Amphion Medical Solutions. They are a small company with only 300 transcriptionists. Has anyone heard of them? Does anyone know anything about them? Do you think they will get gobbled up by the MedQuist e ...

I know there has been a huge amount of info posted on this company, but I have a specific question. I see they are hiring, once again, for oncology MTs, but my question is this...They want oncology experience with acute care, so do they put you on an oncology account and acute care accounts or what? I have never done acute care, but have over 22+ years in medical and radiation oncology, so I'm wondering whether I should even bother applying with them since I don't do acute care? And se ...

Can anyone who works at either of these places give me more info on them? I need to know which one to go with... Both have Oncology openings, so it would be for those accounts. I'd like to earn more this year with a better company than the lousy 15K I just earned this year. The company I'm with now is nice and has treated me well in all aspects, but the low pay isn't working out for me. I'd like to know things about these companies such as pay, line requirements, straight ...
