Nine years, no complaints, now on QA? - Ugh

None of my work for the past three days have gone through because I've been put on full QA.  Not one complaint.  They've hired a lot of new MT's so I'm wondering if they're looking to get rid of us older ones so they can pay less. Ever had this happen?

Is it possible that with all the new hires, you were accidentally put back on full QA because of a mistaken flipped switch on the computer? I think you should ask specifically why you're on full QA instead of assuming that they intended to do that. Good luck!

Yep. Had this happen to me. I was there 4 years, then suddenly my work was substandard and I had to endure full QA. They scrutinized every comma. The work took me so long to type that my pay was cut in half. I think I was getting too many lines and they didn't want to pay.

I finally stopped working today since I won't get paid for the work this month due to lines having to be in and I know QA will take their time. This company rarely answers a question.

Could it be possible that your primary account - was put on full QA?

I'm an MME and this happens when an account isn't happy with the overall quality of work being done. If they complain loud enough and long enough, Medquist will put them on full QA so that none of the reports get sent through to the client without being checked and edited by an MME first. Maybe it's not YOU, per se, but the collective work being done on the account.
They should tell us. We're not getting paid for work today,SM - Ugh

Since QA won't have it in until tomorrow, if that quickly. A little respect by sending out a quick message to all involved would be nice but we don't even get that. All new QA and I'm ready to quit.

I got put on full QA because they had a new QA person do my quarterly audit. She audited 3 reports and charged a major error worth 3 points incorrectly (should have been minor worth 0.5 points)and my score was 97.98. My supervisor and the QA supervisor agreed but once I was put on full QA I couldn't get off for 6 weeks. If I fell below 98 at any point during that time I would have lost my job.

I spent the entire 6 weeks scrutinizing each report that came back from her and most of them she overcharged the errors. She finally got put on probation but that didn't help my paycheck during that time.

Sometimes it's not specifically the MT who is on full QA, it's the dictator, work type, or something of the like that has nothing to do with you personally. Before assuming it's just YOU, check that out. If you don't get an answer, don't sweat it unless your supervisor specifically notifies you of a problem.

lots of well-established MTs at SS are going on hold there. I'll bet you make a higher line rate than the new people coming on. You're being forced out to save the company money.

with ever-lower pay, and by giving us all the "broken" jobs that require a lot of extra work to complete (messed-up demographics, unidentified mystery-doctors or PAs dictating. I've even been getting work to QA, and I'm not even a QA person. I don't think I even get paid for those. Meanwhile they keep telling us if we don't increase our turnaround time, they'll have to hire more people. Yet when we try to up our speed, it increases the little mistakes we don't catch.

Gaaaa.... just shoot me.

Thought that after not having enough work for a couple years now and always chasing work, I'd now have a "real job" as an employee and wouldn't have to worry about a steady paycheck and paying the bills anymore. There is much speculation about the field of transcription - how many of us actually plan to be here 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. I realize that the field is going to change, which will contribute to your answer. Will there be enough transcriptionists/editors to fill the need in 5 years and in 10 years? falling on deaf ears.  Constant account jumping, humanly impossible accuracy score and line count, extremely poor dictators, horribly picky clients who want this and that but not this and that, management that will not communicate.  If this is progression of technology and corporate greed, I'll go back to the good ole days when the primary concern for doctors, hospitals, clinics, transcriptionists, etc. was for the patient and the patient alone! ...

Is there anywhere on this website that it is appropriate for owners to post about people who have been ICs with your company and you would like others to know about their work quality, etc?  I am just so fed up with we, as the owners, being put down about we did this or that, but we, as the owners, never have a say about the ones we weed out of our company because of work quality, etc.  Just upset and venting...but I would like to know if there is an area to post this information. ...

So, due to decreased pay constantly going down the spiral staircase, I could not pay my Charter internet DSL any longer.  I had to go to dial up because AT&T does not have DSL in my little spit of property.  IT IS A NIGHTMARE!!   I changed my schedule to graveyard so I would not be disconnected everytime someone calls me.  I don't have the money to pay for an extra line.  Charter wanted $89 a month for DSL only.   Of course, they wanted me to bund ...

horrible ESL accounts, horrible teaching facilities with residents who don't know how to dictate.  By the time you get used to them, they're gone.  I have been insulted by taking an enormous pay cut for the over rated, under performing ASR.  Through all of this, I have mostly been happy with my job.  Now, however, I will finally say that I hate MQ.  I hope they lose all their accounts to nice mom and pop people.  I hope they go bankrupt and have to move in ...

So, got my congratulatory e-mail from medquist today for working here for 18 years as of this month  How ironic . . . I got that e-mail on the same day that I got the call from the Department of Welfare telling me that due to my low income (despite working full time) my kids are eligible for medical benefits from welfare!  I even replied to my "congratulatory" MQ e-mail stating so!  I know some of you will retort with "why stay?" but I have a disabled husband to take care of, ...

After 20 years, I was put out of business by Nuance taking over the last hopsital I was working for and earning a decent living.  I eventually started working for Nuance in August of this year.  I had such a hard time turning in 1100 lines in 8 hours, significantly down from my average of 250 per hour, and not to mention getting stuck with two hopsitals in Maryland that were very, very difficult with the majority being ESLs.  Sadly, i was let go on December 5th because I could not ...
