doing this job and NOW I cant pass an audit..Lets see Mmodal, had you not made it next to impossible to make a living wage, I could slow down and re-read every word..And you make up THE most stupid crap so that I HAVE to fail...So question is if I get fired for not passing an audit (because I am not changing a freaking thing I do) can I collect U/E?

Headed to the local college now, going to take a program in something I actually enjoy..Burned out is putting it mildly..Accolades and bonuses just last quarter and now this garbage, makes no sense. Im done feeling like a failure
Bonuses? - anon

Good for you. I cannot remember the last time I received a bonus. Did not know they were even awarding them.
Bonuses? Accolades? Surely you're not talking about MModal - anon

They haven't given out bonuses or accolades in YEARS.
When I've QA'd some of the newbies' reports, I've had to wonder - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
how on Earth are they passing their audits?! Especially when experienced MTs are getting harassed for tiny typos! Is there a different standard for newbies and Indian MTs? Something is seriously wrong with this picture IMHO.
Indian MTs do not have quality standards to uphold - there is a completely different set of rules

such CRAP got this letter from our quality director - see inside

part of it
If M*Modal produces 5,500,000 reports a year and we performed at a 99.9% quality rate (and remember, our current quality requirement is 99.6%) that would result in 55,000 reports being sent back with some type of inaccurate information in them. Now you may say, âWell we do over 5 million reports, thatâs not too bad.â It is very bad if youâre one of the 55,000 people whose report is not accurate. I wouldnât want to be, nor would I want one of my family members to be one of those 55,000 people, and Iâm sure you wouldnât either. In reality, we should all be aiming for perfection with every report we touch.
Yes, M*Modal requires a high quality standard, but you are truly the best of the best and definitely up to the challenge!!!! A potential audit really shouldnât affect how we do our work. Again, we should always aim for perfection because we WANT to, not because we think we may be audited. No matter where you are in your career with M*Modal, whether youâre close to retirement with that âmagic dayâ in sight, in the midst of your prime working years or if youâre fairly new to the working world, we still shouldnât let our guard down when it comes to quality. No matter how many years of experience we have, the importance of having a quality document leave our desk has not diminished at all.
None of us would like to witness the ramifications of poor quality being sent to our customers. A lot of us may think that if a customer left, it would only affect âsomeone elseâ, but thatâs not always the case. It could very well affect you personally. To be frank, you will be held accountable for the quality of your work, but that is the case with any job you hold and really should not come as a surprise to anyone reading this email. We have an awesome team of MTs that work for M*Modal, and many of you have been with the company for a very long time, and I know that quality is and always will be important to you. I just think that sometimes we get into a habit of moving through our reports a little too quickly.
But the Indian MTs don't count. Such utter bull
Yeah, if they were medical errors, but you can fail - sm

an audit for leaving out the word "the" or a simple grammar error you miss having to fly through ASR or a punctuation error, etc. One little mistake like that should not cause you to fail an audit and in no way endangers anyone. It's just silly.
Why do they always add SLOW DOWN?? - poorhouse

Slow down but you need to increase your production. What even is that??
I loved the errors I found in that! Looks like it wasn't QC'd!

There will be NO WAY they would ever set an hourly wage that would benefit US ... I set my OWN "hourly wage" by earning what I can right now which pays my bills ... trust me, if MModal decided that for me I would go under.

I have been with this company for years. I can't even remember the name of the company I started with, as they have changed ownership many times. Last month I was audited 4 times - 3 of those times I scored 100% and the 4th time I scored 99.75%, docked for a minor error. I then got an e-mail from my manager telling me how to improve and to proofread carefully. Seriously? So ridiculous!

After Years And Years Of Being IC, Obtained Employee Status At A Co. Sm Nov 26, 2012Thought that after not having enough work for a couple years now and always chasing work, I'd now have a "real job" as an employee and wouldn't have to worry about a steady paycheck and paying the bills anymore.
The reason I thought this was because at the interview and in their professional company emails, they use all the "real job" words: Shift, scheduled hours, overtime, PTO, benefits, etc. I felt relieved to finally have a "job."
What a big bunch of BS! I was "hired" ...
3 Years. Question: How Many More Years Do You Plan To Be An MT/editor? Dec 20, 2013There is much speculation about the field of transcription - how many of us actually plan to be here 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. I realize that the field is going to change, which will contribute to your answer. Will there be enough transcriptionists/editors to fill the need in 5 years and in 10 years? Will the industry be forced out of offshoring because of taxes? Will there be a need even for editors if VR gets better? These are all unanswered questions, but my question is, what ...
I Worked For M*Modal A Couple Of Years Ago Or So And I Worked For Medquist Several Years Ago. Aug 08, 2014Lately, I've been getting legal notices mailed to my home from I believe the east coast somewhere informing me of a class action lawsuit against M*Modal and inviting me to joint if I have a claim. I don't think I have a claim, but then again with all the shady practices in this business, I'm not so sure. I'm just curious what the heck is going on. Anyone care to give me the lowdown? ...
I Am Now Getting My 9th CCM In 7.5 Years. I Have Had Dec 04, 2009horrible ESL accounts, horrible teaching facilities with residents who don't know how to dictate. By the time you get used to them, they're gone. I have been insulted by taking an enormous pay cut for the over rated, under performing ASR. Through all of this, I have mostly been happy with my job. Now, however, I will finally say that I hate MQ. I hope they lose all their accounts to nice mom and pop people. I hope they go bankrupt and have to move in ...

18 Years Dec 12, 2011So, got my congratulatory e-mail from medquist today for working here for 18 years as of this month How ironic . . . Pay Changes Over Years Jan 12, 2013Is anybody out there making very good money with speech recognition? It seems anybody I talk to indicates they are making a lot less with speech than straight typing. Course the MTSOs want you to believe you can do the speech in half the time of straight. ...
I Have Been Doing This For 15 Years And Just Can't (sm) Jul 02, 2013believe the crap that this company dishes out to us. I know 150 lines is achievable because that was the minimum at my last company (bought back, not here by choice!). My former company, however, did not have a time clock, which took the pressure off if I had a string of difficult reports or extensive referencing because I could work a bit longer to make up the lines if I had to. After 36 Years - Nov 16, 2013Working for Nuance has been horrible since the onset a year ago with immediate pay cut. Since then it's been one thing and another to make an MT feel imprisoned working for this company. With their 99% accuracy criteria OR ELSE - very few of us stand a chance of maintaining our jobs. My job was threatened for not meeting consistent FIESA scores of 99%. COME ON - we're making half what we used to and now some QA "specialists" come along and arbitrarily "grade our ...
Out Of A Job After 20 Years Dec 18, 2014After 20 years, I was put out of business by Nuance taking over the last hopsital I was working for and earning a decent living. I eventually started working for Nuance in August of this year. I had such a hard time turning in 1100 lines in 8 hours, significantly down from my average of 250 per hour, and not to mention getting stuck with two hopsitals in Maryland that were very, very difficult with the majority being ESLs. Sadly, i was let go on December 5th because I could not ...
GETTING OUT OF MT AFTER 28 YEARS Apr 15, 2015I to am getting out of MT after over 25 years, the last 10 of those at home. Returning To MT After 10 Years Away Aug 07, 2010I was a medical transcriptionist for about five years in the late '90s. Have Not Had A Raise In 5 Years. Jul 25, 2011I am tier III and I still am not at top pay. Today I asked my CCM for a raise and she said she will put in the paperwork. Why do I feel I still will be denied even though I have met all the requirements. More than likely I will be denied because they do not want any MT to make above minimum wage.
Also I really feel bad for the MTs who had their pay cut. That is just not right. I notice when I ask why the pay cut the answer is always to level the playing field and to make it fair to the other MT ...
No Raise In 11 Years Oct 06, 2011I am an independent contractor with 30 plus years experience, and have worked for the same hospital for 11 years, still at the same rate as when I started. At the time it was a good rate, now not so much--outside typing service does the overflow easy stuff , we IC's are left with the ESL's, static and more difficult reports. Been A Transcriptionist For Over 10 Years Nov 13, 2013
I have been a transcriptionist for over 10 years and I recently started a job for a small transcription company that requires 100% accuracy for all reports.
