Anyone know of a company who starts health insurance for a new employee at the 30-day or 60-day mark?
insurance - never heard of it happening

Nope, never heard of them doing the earlier date.
90 Days - Oldie MT

It's usually 90 days, as with any company, inhouse or working from home.
Hospitals are usually the first of the month after 30 or 60 days, but - I dont think any MTSO is.

The only service that I've ever checked with that wasn't 90 days was Transcend, and it was 120. Sorry.

Health Insurance For Medical Transcriptionist Oct 28, 2009I was wondering for all of you MTs who work full-time from home, what health insurance does your company provide you and your family with and how much do you pay out of pocket? I work for a company (will not mention the name) and pay $62 per pay period (for just me) which I didn't think was so bad - BUT i just found out I have a $3500 calender year deducible and will have to pay 35% of hospital fees if admitted (which I will be in 2010). So besides paying the $62 monthly, I will be paying $ ...

Medical Transcription Vs Selling Insurance? Feb 18, 2014In my eagerness to get out of MT (and home based work in general), I've sent my resume to 4 different staffing agencies. I have an interview at a local Aflac office tomorrow, they seemed impressed by my medical knowledge and clerical skills. The interview occurs during my normal MT schedule, so I lied to my TSM, telling her I had a dental appointment. The thing is, I've got other offers from other insurance companies. I have NO sales experience, and there is NOTHING on my resume to ind ...
Long Term Health Risks Of Medical Transcription? Jul 10, 2012I am a Canadian medical transcriptionist. I have been doing this job for seven years now and I really enjoy it. The thing is though is that I used to be in the military for 21 years and went to the gym every day. I had a much more active job. So I do find that after seven years of sitting down for 8 hours per day that I have put on about 20 lbs. I started going back to the gym after work as we have one at this hospital. It only opened a couple of years ago. What do others think about this? Do yo ...

On-The-Mark Transcription Jan 09, 2010Hello Everyone:
I was just offered a job from On-The-Mark Transcription and am wondering if anyone knows or has experience with this company? I cannot find them on the better business bureau. It is a smaller company and pays less than most places but hires many new graduates. I am worried about getting into something that might be "unsafe". Please respond if you have heard anything about this company. Thanks.

On The Mark Transcription Dec 08, 2010I received an answer from this company and have a chance to work for them. Thing is he says regarding pay, the transcriptionists get paid when he does. He bills the hospital and when they pay he pays. He says sometimes it takes 2 months to get paid.
Does anyone have any other info on this company? Is he reliable?
Thanks!

Employee Offered Insurance... Not Really Better Than My Own?? Jun 03, 2010I am new to the MTSO thing. IC for 10 years and bought my own health insurance. It was $242.00 a month, and I let it go a few months ago after losing my job. Now I am being offered by my employer an HSA plan for around the same amount or a PPO plan for around $300.00. (this is them paying 60% and me paying 40% and that is what it equals??) This seems OUTRAGEOUS. Am I crazy?

Health Insurance As An IC Oct 21, 2010I am considering becoming self employed (after a fashion) as an IC. I have gone onto www.healthcare.gov and gone through the steps they advise when you want to take out private insurance. Holy cow, the insurance plans offered varied in premium cost from $600 to $4000 per month for a family of 4, but the thing that got me was two items: Maximum out of pocket for individual: 0$. Annual deductible for individual: 0$. Woohoo. This just seems too good to be true.&n ...

New Health Insurance Reform Mar 30, 2010With this new healthcare reform, does this mean that outsourcing companies are going to have to provide health insurance to MTs? Health Insurance Options Available Now To Anyone Jan 30, 2011To those of you who desperately need insurance now, here is a great place to look for temporary insurance. If you eventually find out that COBRA is not going to happen or LM jerks you around so long you miss the deadline, you can still qualify for Uninsurable Risk insurance depending on the State you live in. Some of these plans may even be cheaper than COBRA, which is something you might want to look into.

I Can't Qualify For Health Insurance With A VR Job May 03, 2011This is my first VR job. I cannot make enough lines to qualify for health insurance on it. This is the first time I have ever had this problem. I could easily exceed my line count with a straight typing job. The only way I could meet line count now is if I blaze through the jobs without proofreading and put out bad-quality jobs. I wouldn't even be able to get up to stretch my legs ever. I'd have to cut my lunch down to 30 minutes. And even then I'd be about 1000 to ...
