Keystrokes Beware! - MVI
Posted: May 06, 2011
Beward of KS. Worked there 4 years, went to a new account, been on it barely a month and now let go without warning. No job!
Why were you let go? There has to be a reason; the accounts I am on are super busy. nm - TXMT

More to this than meets the eye.
Difficult management - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I had almost the same situation. Worked very hard under extremely rude and difficult management with a new account and was let go without any warning. Truthfully was not too upset because the management was so rude and I couldn't decide if I should just quit. So I wasn't exactly disappointed when the decision was made for me in the end. Be wary of them.

Well I didn't have proper training and supposedly I made some mistakes, but never was informed about them. So the hospital wanted me off. No warning, just fired. I can't even draw unemployment. I have done transcription for 20 plus years.

The thing is this: MTSO's are in the business to make money. Time and money are invested into each MT. The POINT is to make them successful MTs so everyone is making money. I guess I find it hard to believe you did nothing, which was sort of implied in your OP, but now you say you made mistakes. And yet you want to blame Keystrokes?
I see this scenario played out time and time again on these pages. A company is NOT going to let go an MT who is producing quality work at agreed-upon volumes.
Yet when an MT is let go, usually for one of those 2 reasons (quality/production), they post here and blame the company. And it's not just you, OP, it's many MTs for different companies.
Whenever I see someone blaming a company because they were let go, I have to wonder what the real story is. It just makes no sense to get rid of an MT who is pulling her weight. And having 20 years in the business really means nothing because it isn't how long you've done the job but how well you do the job, right?
I'm sorry you find yourself unemployed and I hope you're able to find a new position quickly.
And before anyone jumps on me, no I'm not management, I'm just an MT, making an observation.

I will have you know I never had a problem with quality of work before. I always passed my QAs. I think that just when they decide it's your time to go, it happens. I have no way to prove it because its my word against theirs. But there was not proper training on the account, among other things that you don't know about. Just wait you day will be coming, see what you say then.
To hire new MTs at lower rate? - Suspicious
[ In Reply To ..]
Actually I have suspected for a while now that KS is letting their MTs go so they can replace them with new MTs at a lower rate. I'm not the only one who thinks this either....
The more likely scenario is that it is not the company, - but rather the egos bucking to up themselves in th
[ In Reply To ..]
They misrepresent the company, and they want to make a name for themselves. Any company should be careful of promoting anyone who does try to get along with the people but are creating their own little kingdom within the company. Every business seminar I have been to and studies regarding how to treat employees is that if you rate them higher than they are, they will step up to that place, believing they are that way. Their so-called justice is not justice at all but rather a feather in their hat. The dorsal fins are prevalent at KS, and if you swim with sharks, you have to learn not to bleed.

"The POINT is to make them successful MTs so everyone is making money."
Well you got the FIRST part right: They're ALL about making money. That means that THEY DON'T CARE if the MTs are starving or homeless. That's why we see OVERSTAFFING of so many accounts!
KS -- and other MTSOs -- doesn't care if you do 20 lines or 22,000 a day because THEY WILL STILL BILL THE SAME WAY. They have TONS OF OTHER MTs ON THE SAME ACCOUNT to pick up the slack because they have OVERSTAFFED.

I can't do it on line where I live, I have to go into the office, but according to KS I can't because they terminated me, not laid me off.
I was terminated and got unemployment. sm - Sounds Fishy
[ In Reply To ..]
I was terminated by a company and you bet your tush I got unemployment. I am sure you can unless you did something dishonest.
Depends on the state - Realist
[ In Reply To ..]
Don't make such broad statements. Qualifications for drawing unemployment benefits vary from state to state. Just because YOU qualified in your state doesn't mean that someone else will in theirs.
MVI I think they are telling you a story. - I think you are eligible
[ In Reply To ..]
If you worked for them for four years and did okay, then were switched you to another account and they terminated you, why are you at fault? If they took a person that had worked clinic for them and then moved them to acute care, how is it that person's fault for not being able to do the work they were hired for? If they took me and put me on pathology, guaranteed they'd fire me and I would go straight to the unemployment office in my state and say I was fired because they changed my job and I could not do it. Of course Keystrokes does not want you to get it. But it is there for the worker, not the company. Why would you listen to them anyway? Head on down to the office on Monday.
If you were never written up for it, you can get UE. sm - Tabby
[ In Reply To ..]
Keystrokes is just telling you that you can't. As long as you have not had any warnings/write ups, you can get UE.
Not necessarily - UE MT
[ In Reply To ..]
Remember, most of these companies have "at will" contracts. They don't need a reason to fire you. They don't have to document, warn, or otherwise give you a heads' up.
So a lot of whether or not you can get UE will depend upon the state in which you live. It never hurts to apply because that then puts the onus on the company to substantiate the firing.
unemployment after termination - WWZD
[ In Reply To ..]
I **urge** you to apply for unemployment. Certainly, it depends on your state. However, I was let go suddenly after a glowing review (in a completely different occupation). I applied for unemployment and did get it. I just stated my case and didn't provide any hard backup. The company rolled over. Don't believe Keystrokes... they let you go!

There is one account that if you make too many mistakes or make any HIPPA mistake, they will pull your IDs. However, usually those people are given the option to move to another accout. Sorry to hear about your experience.

I was let go for no reason either in February - worked there for two years. They are awful. Very poor management and communication. You are always "wonderful" when they need something. You will eventually send them a thank you card for a favor, believe me.

I was happy to go to Keystrokes but happier to leave.
I have never met so many disagreeable, dishonest people. I am sure this does not apply to everyone. However, the bad ones seem to be more dominant.
Reminds me of the quote "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Beware Of The Big Three Jan 06, 2012I have a friend whose relative is a one of those aspiring Wall Street'ers and he was interested in hearing about my work as an MT. He had done some research and looked at the publicly traded companies in our industry. With the growth of an ageing population the documents we provide is more and more needed. But that also creates a potential for a takeover of publically traded companies. Just my (or his) opinion. ...
Beware ANP Sep 10, 2012I recently responded to an ad on Craig's List for an MT medical editor because I'm interested in getting into that. I got a test and a bunch of info back from a Larry Perrone of ANP Transcription. Fortunately I googled ANP before doing anything and there are piles of complaints here and at other sites about them not paying MTs. I sent Mr. Perrone some samples of comments MTs wrote about their habit of not paying us and told him I won't be working for them. So beware! I guess ...
TTS - IC's Beware! Aug 01, 2013I'm sure we are all aware, but if considering employment with them be VERY careful. I have gone round and round for days with them that legally they cannot require a schedule of an IC...but they don't care, one bit. Told me to look elsewhere then, after passing their testing, etc. I cannot believe a company this supposedly big does not even try to care when this issues is addressed to them, makes me want to report them. There are reasons why a company has to keeping hiring for the same positions over and over again. Inscribe is that company. Most of the Tx are IC's but are forced to do the work of employees, i.e., training new transcriptionists, editing their work, being on call 24 7, computer-generated phone calls telling Tx's to get online any time of day or night, being on instant messenger AIM while transcribing in order to be able to help new people while you are transcribing - ...

Mediscribes Ad - Beware - Bad Company. Feb 06, 2013Just quit there. Seriously lacks organization. Their India "allocation" team throws bits and pieces at you, very low volume, but then hammers your IM to death. Example, a 12 minute report is assigned, I would just get started on it and within less than 10 minutes they want to know where it is. WTF?! If the 2 US managers are out of the office and the India team is in charge, it's a nightmare. Then, even if the US managers are there, it's slim pickins as far as volume goes and then they ...
