I love my job!! I have been with this company for 9 months now and I love it! I have work, straight typing, wonderful doctors, wonderful coordinator, just downright wonderful company! Thank you Keystrokes!

That's the main thing with any job, and nowadays it seems to get harder and harder to find. I am happy with my jobs as well. My requirements are quite simple -- decent pay and on time, plenty of work, and leave me alone to do my job -- but still it took awhile to find.

Hope everything stays great for you. I hated Meditech and ran out of work a lot, but that was years ago and things could have changed. Again, my experience doesn't matter anyway. Each person is different and I'm glad you are happy. Congrats! :-)

I too worked at KS for about 1-1/2 years. I loved my account and mainly my Team Leader who was probably one of the best TLs I have ever had. They do have some wonderful Team Leaders. Unfortunately, the management did not think I was doing a good job, even though I worked harder there than anywhere else. But that was a long time ago too -- probably does not matter at all anymore. It is good that KS is treating their MTs better and with respect -- so things really have changed there!!!!!

Do you have to have unlimited long distance and phone line? I'm interested in applying but everytime they've posted an ad recently it asks for this. I'm looking to go totally internet and no more phone line/bills!

I could be wrong, but i think when they ask for you to have unlimited long distance service for an MT job, VOIP like Magic Jack and other voice-over-internet services do not work for that. Am I wrong?

None of the IP phone plans like Magic Jack or Vonage will work - also phone through cable company usually won't work. Has to be AT&T, Centurylink, etc.

I have a friend who works at KS and she uses IP phone and it works with the dictaphone. Also, NetTalk will work with dictaphone as well.

I guess it would depend on the account you are on whether you will need unlimited long distance. I would ask about it if you interview.

I know that they have a big new account coming up in 2 weeks that also uses a foot pedal. I work 3rd shift and told them that I wanted to change if the opportunity came up. They called to offer the new account, but now that I have been on the night shift for a while, I realize that I prefer it.

Pregnancy produces a miracle. Longevity at this service will also be one. Good that you feel this way, many don't for good reasons.

Pay rate is usually discussed with you when you have your interview or are posted on their ads.

It is usually 8 cpl to start, maybe a little higher for some accounts, VR varies but mostly non-VR w - KS MT

Have to agree with you about Keystrokes. They are the "best hidden secret"... I have worked for so many transcription companies in my 20-something-year career and have finally found my pot of gold with Keystrokes. I love it there and plan to stay until retirement age.

A new ESL dictating a DS. Can't speed him up because he's too "new" (to this country?). He is spelling every other word!!!!!! An email gets sent out around 4 a.m. stating there is a critical backlog and asking everyone to help out. The email shows the backlog, but it's really not that big. I love to be able to fill in blanks that people can't get and to help them. I wish I could give them detailed explainations so that they can understand the why of the error or resources I used to find it. However, because of the ridiculous pay and having to wade though ILP garbage (sorry, I don't enjoy helping them out), I'm only able to leave brief or even no messages to try to at least make what I did when being an MT. Imagine 8 hours of looking up "J. A. Smith" in phone books to write down his/her phone number. Then searching for the modifier for his second line. More like insurance work or accounting (even without the numbers) than language based work. I love the narrative of the reports I do, not the lab data. For the last week and a half, all I have been doing is progress notes for some hospital that isn't even in my BoB. It is worse than watching paint dry, I swear. So, I got this super long report with HORRIBLE audio. When I got finished it looked like a piece of Swiss cheese it had so many blanks. Finally sucked it up and bought a Kinesis Advantage keyboard.
