I guess I will make it my life's mission to warn others about Omniscribes sm - Tired of waiting
Posted: May 05, 2013
so that they do not end up in the same position I am. I entered into the agreement fair and square with no mention of having to wait to be paid, yet here I sit, waiting, perhaps forever. I cannot even come up with the $96 to file a small claims case against her until I get my first check from the new job. She sits in church and paints herself as this giving, caring, Christian woman, goes home to her nice house with 2 vehicles, while I sit here in my tiny apartment with my ancient car, wondering how I will survive the week, waiting for her to have a stroke of conscience and perhaps actually pay me. There are no words for me to describe the feelings I have for this person.
Sorry for the vent, but she has betrayed me on several levels and I hope no one else falls for her line of BS and promises.
Might make a great human interest story on - your local news station.... (n/m)

So sorry to hear of your misfortune. Why not just - go work for MModal or Nuance?...at least SM

with them you know you are guaranteed to get your paycheck on time every time. I guess I prefer the more larger companies for this very reason.
Thanks. I do have a new job, thank goodness, and will get my sm - Tired of waiting

first check on May 10. It just is pretty "lean" at my place until then, and I guess I'm frustrated because it doesn't have to be this way. I earned the money in March. I should have it. But I just have to take a deep breath, pray it will be okay, and let it go. I do believe in karma, and while I try not to wish anything bad on anyone, I cannot honestly say I wish good things for her.
Hey, I think you TOTALLY deserve your money and - I by no means and suggesting that...
[ In Reply To ..]
you not be frustrated and that you should let it go. You performed the work and you should be paid for it. I just meant for future reference maybe try going with a larger company that you know has a reputation for paying their employees on time everytime. That is the only thing that bothers me about going to work for a smaller company.
MTs in this day and age dont make nearly as much money as what we use to and we need every penny we earn. These people who take advantage know this and therefore are probably not all that worried when they dont pay because they know we dont have the money to go after them legally. They assume we will just look for another job, hope they pay us sooner or later and just move on. Well yes, thats what we do, but it does not give them the right to take advantage of us because they know we have no legal recourse to go after them if we cant afford it.
I hope things start to look up for you soon. Good luck.
PS. Thanks for the warning. I think all MTs should - post warnings when companies dont pay.

Thanks, I understand and agree. I hate the way Walmart treats their sm - tired of waiting

employees, but at least the people I know who have worked there never complained of not being paid on time. This is the first time it has happened to me -- live and learn. You're right, at least the bigger companies pay you on time. A friend referred me to this new company and she has only been there a couple of months, but she has never had a pay issue and it is direct deposit, so I am hoping it turns out all right. Anymore, it seems like you need 3 or 4 jobs just to make sure you can cover yourself. Wages will never be what they once were -- I accept that (grudgingly) -- but the pitiful wages we DO earn should be paid to us on time.
I appreciate your support and positive thoughts. I was told she owes some of the MTs a lot more than me (one woman is owed $2700), so I anticipate that it will not just be me who goes after her.
Well, I for one hope that y'all bite her - Nick

right where it will do her the most good! (In the wallet, of course.) I hope you sue the socks off of her. (See, I sound like a lawyer already.)
I agree - me

So many people say they prefer the small companies, where they are treated like a person, not a number, etc., but me, well, I'm just fine being treated like a number, because my number gets my paycheck ON TIME, every time.
I have worked for many very small companies and getting to know the owner often makes the owner comfortable enough with you to make excuses on why pay is late and they kind of expect you to understand. In my experience, with the small companies, they make me feel like we are "in this together" and if times are bad, we ALL suffer. My problem with that is that I still only get my little MT salary and I HAVE to have that, so no, I don't care to be in the boat and have excuses made on why my check is late.
Ditto to "me" (the above poster). I dont work - for the heck of it, I work to pay bills.

Yes, but I thought that was just for nonpayment. Right now she is sm - tired of waiting

just 3 weeks late on the work that was done in March (to be paid on 04/15), so I do not know if it will be just her usual late payment or if she is not going to pay now that she lost the account. If it turns into a situation where I know she definitely is not paying, I will most certainly notify the monitor. Thanks for the suggestion. :-)
She really did lose the account? - Oh wow
[ In Reply To ..]
So karma kinda bit her in the backside? She stiffed her hardworking MTs and lost the account anyway? Now that would be some semblance of justice.

I am sorry to hear about this. I am a former Omniscribes MT, who received 1 check (not even the accurate amount) in a 3-1/2 period. Granted, I stayed on board b/c I, too, believed the owner. When she initially would respond to my inquiries about pay, she was so very "sincere", and yet, always an excuse and no pay. I also count every single penny, am in a small apartment, and don't even own a car as I can't afford one, let alone the costs associated. I've done this job both transcribing/editing for over 25 years and my experience with Omniscribes was awful.
I hope you do receive your pay, but don't be like me and count on it. I figure it's a costly mistake I made. She got a lot of lines out of me, but I wanted to be "fair" and give her the benefit of the doubt. Now, I don't do that.
I truly hope things work out for you. It's been a big mess for all the MTs associated with this company. Idk how some ppl sleep at night.

Check with the clerk at the courthouse. It is possible to file a claim in small claims court without paying the fees if you are unable to do so. You will need to petition the judge to waive the fees. The clerk can give you the proper forms and basic information on how to fill them out if you need it, although she cannot give you legal advice.

Supervisors Can Make Your Life A Living Nov 19, 2012I have known this for all the years that I have been in this business, but unfortunately I came face to face, so to speak, with this problem again recently. I stated a point to my supervisor by e-mail, and very nicely, about some technical difficulties I was having, and no matter how I would explain it, she did not understand what I said. Even the tech told her that it was not due to my computer, but the connection I had. She said she would call me, and I said I would look ...

Umm... I Think MModal Did Not Follow The WARN Act. Aug 17, 2013http://www.dol.gov/compliance/guide/layoffs.htm
WARN protects workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers to provide notification 60 calendar days in advance of plant closings and mass layoffs. Advance notice gives workers and their families some transition time to adjust to the prospective loss of employment, to seek and obtain other jobs and, if necessary, to enter skill training or retraining that will allow these workers to compete successfully in the job mark ...
Mission ONE Sep 12, 2011Could someone give me English Version of "what the heck" that e-mail means?
Every time I try to read an e-mail form MQ, the words boggle all over my brain! Strategy, Forward, Allocation, Structure, Analyze, Intigrate, Deployment, Cross-Function! Nothing makes sence, just filler nondescript words.

Recent Email Re Mission One Oct 26, 2011Don't think anyone has mentioned the recent email from MQ regarding company development plans. This includes the statement: EHR adoption is a large threat to medical transcription services but will likely take longer than originally predicted.

FYI For Others Owed Money By Omniscribes. Sm May 01, 2013Filing fee plus service fee for small claims in Bexar County, Texas, is $96 and according to the clerk I talked with, you can include recovery of that amount in your claim. This has gone on for too long. She violated her contract/agreement with us when she continually missed the payments, so any agreement not to let others know about this is void. Obviously, the best way to avoid having people post about an MTSO and her late paying practices is to be on time with your payments. ...

How Did My Life Get So Bad Feb 01, 2014Yes I have known for quite awhile the end is near for MT but I don't know what I'm going to do now. 20 years ago I was the envy of the medical record department, the lead transcriptionist that everyone thought was so smart, and I made more than almost anyone in the entire hospital.
