It's one thing for a company to make a mistake....it's another for them to not take care of it immediately when you bring it to their attention.  As a result of this, I not only have service charges, I am not also overdrawn at the bank on a check that was deposited last week.  I've written the owner, ******, numerous times, and I have also called her at 3 different numbers I found listed for her (including her cell phone which confirms it is hers when it says "You have reached ******" and she has YET to return my calls.  I certainly hope she doesn't think I'm going to tell her "Sure, mail me another check."  I want my money and I want it NOW via PAYPAL or Western Union.  This is B.S.!!!

Not from this company but from another. Take it as a sign to RUN! I was out $5,000 as an IC from a woman who still has yet to make good on it. She is out of SC. Good luck getting your money!I feel for ya!

Well, this is radical or desperate, but...could you call the account you transcribe and tell them your situation and that you need to contact her? Maybe they know something that you need to know.
I bet she would get hold of you toot suite - if you did that!

...As much as I might feel like doing that, I wouldn't. Two wrongs don't make a right. We're parting ways though, for sure...and hopefully she will have enough integrity to pay me everything she owes me. (Got an email from her and she says she would wire some of the money I am owed to Walmart so I will ride it out and hope for the best.) If not, I guess it will serve as a lesson learned. When communication is very poor from an employer from the start and you have to search online for a phone number for them because they don't ever return calls when you leave messages at the number they gave you -- and you find a website for them that you didn't know about that contains phone numbers different than the numbers you were given for that employer...that should tell you something. The main thing concern from the get go though was the lack of communication. As all of us who work from home successfully have learned, communication is the key to a successful working relationship with your employer/employee -- and area that she is definitely lacking in. Anyway, thanks for the well wishes, suggestions, and words of encouragement everyone!

...this has never happened before with her. She has sent me a couple of checks already (small ones) and they cleared. I didn't find any other posts from anyone saying she didn't pay them -- just found posts about her poor communication skills -- so it could have been a simple mistake on her part in balancing her checkbook. Still, it's very disturbing to have it happen even once, especially with a company so far from where I live...and knowing that I really have no recourse if she doesn't pay me. I couldn't afford an attorney if I wanted to hire one -- and it certainly would not be worth the expense for what she owes. If and when I am paid everything I am owed, I guess I'll need to come back and post that so everyone knows that she did make good on it. I'm not out to ruin anyone's reputation -- I just don't want any rubber checks from anyone! :-)

had difficulty finding a job with an MTSO and suspect it is because you live in CA (they probably don't like the fair worker's laws we have here, ie, having to pay our benefit rate for OT, having to pay for NJA, etc). I, too, live in California.  I'm a level-3 MT, getting mostly ESLs and other difficult dictators.  I've brought my QA percentage down from 22 to 20% but it's impossible for me to go any lower with what I'm being routed.  It looks like our job description has changed dramatically.  Because of these new changes imposed by corporate, I'll now be getting paid 3 cents less through no fault of my own, but a different job description, not what I was hired to ...

Nuance is required to pay for your 10-minute rest breaks separately and clearly display it on your pay stub.  You are owed 1 hour of pay for every day PAID breaks are not provided going back 3 years.  Their nonsense of stating breaks are figured into your line pay is illegal since when you log out to take a break, your production stops.  Contact your local labor commission.  ...
