Global TN - Syragirl

Posted: Mar 11, 2010

I just had an awful reply from Global TN regarding my resume.  I have 20 years' experience.  I actually have an Associate's degree in Transcription (way back in 1989) and their response was that I was not really qualified.  They said because I do not type acute care (which I do?), have only typed for 3-4 years (clearly not true) and I do not own a C-phone.  I listed my DAC digital system on the resume.  Wouldn't someone in the transcription business know that a DAC is a C-phone.  OMG.

Wow, slam, slam and slam! Hang in there Syragirl! - MT

Sorry to hear of your bad experience!

sounds like they sent you another MT's reply; check into it. - n/m

If that was the case, wouldn't want to work for them anyway - Happy MT Robin

Don't you think? I wouldn't check into it myself beccause if it was truly the wrong response to the wrong resume (which it more than likely was) if they are that unorganized in the hiring process, I would be leery that the rest of the company would not be any better.

Sound more like they dont want people with that much - experience; they dont want to pay for it. nm

My sentiments exactly. I do not know even know anything about this company but thought I would give it a shot.

This is the response from GTN - Syragirl

Ive never heard of a cphone being called a DAC system, and just FYI I have been in this business for 23 years as an executive manager and technology consultant so I know this business very well.

You gotta wonder about "technology consultants" - Happy MT Robin

[ In Reply To ..]
I've never used a c-phone, but hey, if you Google it, the VERY FIRST option that comes up is an ad from Transcription gear for c-phones and DAC systems. If you Google "DAC station c-phone" the first ad is one from Dictran.com for a DAC Plug'n'Play C-phone. If I can find that out in a total of a whole 1.5 minutes, you'd think that a supposed "technology consultant" could.

It just sort of reinforces your decision not to work for them, huh?

What is a technology consultant? - Syragirl

Why would anyone want to work for a company that insults you right off the bat by saying you do not know what you are doing--why aren't transcriptionists doing the hiring is my question.
Sounds like the qualifications for this company's technology consultant (sm) - HappyMTer

Re: Transcriptionists doing the hiring - vrinie

That is a most excellent suggestion. Almost declined new job at new company (which so far seems a good fit) because of initial dealings with their moronic recruiter and rude ''tec'' department. A great idea for experienced MTs to do the hiring (and also to devise the tests the applicant has to take.) Excellent idea.

Gotta agree; I've also managed MTSOs and even had a Dictaphone, - and never heard it referred to as D&C. nm

Many places list c-phone or DAC. Besides that issue, doesn't - seem like they read resume very well. sm

I'm definitely making note of that one for future reference. Not a good attitude. No need to put someone down, just say we've hired someone else, good luck.

sounds like they got you mixed up with another when emailing. - guess than cannot multitask NM.

I got a wrong email once telling me I got the job but the email really was not for me it was for somebody else. Talking about quality? Doesn't that apply to human resources as well?

I worked about 3-4 weeks for SGS.  The people were really really nice.  The pay was on time.  The problem lies with too many Q.A. people and all having different opinions and no one agreeing on the same thing.  They nick-picked me to pieces.  I had a job come up today and it was a STAT.  I had no idea it was stat.  I was in Q.A. being checked for everything, so I was doing my normal be careful speed and they said hurry it up.  So, I did and then they would not let me have the line count ...

Superior Global - The Pay Was Also Awful
Feb 25, 2010

I've been sending out resumes, and taking tests that must end up in cyberspace, even though I pass them, hear nothing.  Then I hear from Superior Global, passed the test, no problem.  The recruiter calls me, and her dictation is awful, and her command of the English language equally as poor.  I thanked her, and said I'd think about it.  However, that first impression left me less than luke warm.  The recruiter above all people in the company should excel in communication skills, a ...

Aug 16, 2011

During a time when millions of Americans are out of work, with no hope in sight of finding another job, and people up in Washington jabbering away about "Fixing the economy", the bottom line, and the truth, is this: No American company should be putting bigger profits ahead of all else.  Not when so many skilled Americans are in such dire need.  It's just not right, and it's time to tell the government we won't tolerate their allowing big business to squash the rest of ...

GLOBAL INFO SYSTEMS (GIS)
Jul 03, 2012

Need recent info on GIS please. Just been contacted by them for an IC position, straight typing @.05 a line! When I asked why so low, I was informed there is a ton of docs, work and a lot of repetition in the templates, so they feel you are getting a lot of free lines! That being said, I'm still shocked that these companies continue to go lower and lower on the line rates! Considering I have been an MT over 20 years, this is crazy to me, but I did read a couple of old posts here that this i ...
