Focus- Can anyone tell me if there is any work to go around? - LookingMT

I want to apply because they said there are new accounts etc. Then, I checked the archives and as early as December, people were claiming to running out of work every day because a lot of the work goes to India. They also were told that there would be new accounts but somehow they vanished and they ended up with no work. I really want to find a good stable home with a lot of work but I am nervous now to apply. It seems a constant theme for companies to advertise NEW ACCOUNTS, HERE WE GROW AGAIN etc.. and then all their employees do is complain about there not being any work. I am SOOOOOOO sick of this. Please tell me that they seriously have more work and I'd be happy to jump ship where I am and apply there.

If you have an opportunity to switch careers, I would recommend that. I personally am to the point where I'm tired of the whole running out of work thing. It's been going on for at least a year, 2 different places of employment in the past year for me. If you have gone ahead and invested time and money in an MT course, then I guess you have to at least try, but keep in mind that companies have to "sell" the job, especially these days. They will tell you anything. "Oh, we are growing by leaps and bounds." "We don't overhire." "We don't send over to India." They don't this, they do that, blah, blah, blah.

I have been blessed to have two skills, transcription and billing and coding. I wanted to work at home again so I quit the local hospital where I did billing and coding to come do this and it's the same old thing. I can make more in 8 hours at the hospital where it takes me at least 12 hours at home, so what's the point. I want to just do my job and have a life. I guess I need to hang this gig up and go back to the hospital.

Just one thing. I'm sure you are blessed for many things, but you worked very hard to become proficient at both careers, so it's not really a blessing. Kudos to you. I thought about doing coding and/or billing, but I don't think I could handle all those numbers. Numbers and I don't get along. Good luck to you.

If you want a company with constant work, try Phoenix Medcom. When I worked for Phoenix, I never ever ran out of work. They are serious when they say they do not hire too many people. If you do not have work one day, you can ask for work, and they will set you up with another account.

going well for their clients and then they transfer all the work overseas. Focus is, above all, an offshore company.

I have been working at Focus now for 2 weeks. I think everyone is nice. All my QAs have seemed fair except today one QA (and only this one) counts off for blanks. Well the team lead said you are not penalized for blanks when I hired on. She said you won't be dinged for blanks. I received an e-mail today from a recruiter at Focus Infomatics. I applied there last year and didn't meet their experience criteria but the e-mail asked me to send them an updated resume to see if I do now (and I do). I am soo fed up with this company. I am an experienced MT and have been on their "crappy" training rate for three months. I get "dinged" in lab values if I add commas and the platelet count is 348,000 have to change everything to semicolons then if patelet count is just 38 commas are fine.
