Decreased wages, increased LPH - sick and tired

Posted: Jan 07, 2015

In the past 4 years, my productivity requirements have risen 40 LPH, in 2014 our productivity bonus was taken away, now in 2015 our passing QA scores have been increased.    I feel sorry for anyone entering the MT field these days.

Me too because it used to be a great field - SM

They don't even realize how good we used to have it. We used to be respected, treated fairly, compensated fairly, and we used to get bonuses just for showing up to work.

Maybe it is a blessing that they don't know what we know. Nuance, it's all pretty much your fault. You and the rest of the Indian companies who have pulled us down to the depths of despair.

In the past and still now I have people ask me all the time... - jodi

about my field of work and want to know how to get into it. I tell them forget it, no money in it. Yup, I've been doing that for a few years now, because it's true. So, if we all do that, eventually it will turn around, be what it used to be. I believe, and I hang in there because I love what used to do and keep the faith that I will love it again.

hmmm - too old for this game

sounds like we work at the same company. they were suppose to re-visit re-instating the bonus.........wonder when that is going to happen. It takes a whole year for that to happen, huh? Probably will make where hardly anybody can get the bonus anymore. I use to hit it almost every pay period.

sounds like we work for the same company. They were suppose to re-visit re-instating a new bonus plan. Probably, they will make it where hardly anybody can make the bonus anymore, if they re-instate it at all. I use to make bonus almost every pay period.

It doesn't make sense, produce more with a higher accuracy rate but - the faster you go...

The MTSOs don't care, for them its all about money and God forbid you should make a mistake trying to meet all of their ridiculous requirements! Meanwhile, we correct doctor's mistakes all the time...............

Here's Why Our Pay Has Decreased So Drastically.
Sep 29, 2010

I originally posted this as a reply to another poster, but wanted to re-post it so that everyone could see and understand why our pay has decreased so drastically the past year.  This is an excerpt from notes to financial statements in MQ SEC filing obtained from www.faqs.org: "Cost of revenues decreased $4.0 million, or 7.5% to $49.8 million for the three months ended March 31, 2010 compared with $53.9 million for the three months ended March 31, 2009. Any Other SHDAs Notice Decreased ILP QA?
Aug 23, 2014

Since the transition, I have not gotten nearly as much ILP QA as I used to.  Not much in the way of US MTs either, but I expect that with their blank contest.  I have a feeling they have made ILP work only QA'd by ILPs now without the extra step through US QA.  If that is the case, there is going to be a lot more garbage reports going to the hospitals, especially considering ILP QA barely even look at reports before sending them on. ...

What Would You Do, Pay Decreased When Company Changed Hands
Mar 30, 2012

I was working for a company that got bought out by another company and the client I was typing for was paying 12 cents a line, now the new company will only give me 7.5 cents a line for the same client.  This client is ESL and very hard to learn and his files are always 10+ minutes each.  They told me I would eventually get 10 cents for him, but that was almost 6 months ago and still only get 7.5.  I have asked for a raise to at least 8 cents and they denied me.  What would y ...

First Time Right - CPL Being Decreased If The QA Submission Rate Is Too High
Mar 07, 2010

I've had time to think about this whole First Time Right plan.   I've seen a lot in my 32 yrs in the business and in my humble opinion, I think it will be okay except for the part about CPL being decreased if the QA submission rate is too high.  There must be an alternative other than taking away hard earned pay.  Anyone else agree? ...

Increased ASR, Less Straight Transcription??
Oct 24, 2010

Anybody notice increased ASR in the last week or 2, with less straight typing.  Just when I thought I had already hit the lowest I possibly could, they do this.  I was at least getting between 100-300 transcription lines before, now all the sudden lucky to get any.  My pay has already been deposited in the bank, down another $100 from before.  What do they want next, blood? ...

How Come No One's Talking About The Increased Line Requirement?

I'm aware of the increase in lines per hour to 186 (average between regular and edited) which I think might be a little challenging to sustain on a regular day-in and day-out basis, but why is no one discussing the increased weekly line requirements. It's a pretty significant jump.  ...

Article - Dictation And Transcription Will Be Under Increased Scrutiny
Dec 29, 2009

We'll see how this shakes out but what it looks like, according to this article, is that security will be forefront. To me this means that the vampire squids (the suits) who live and die for widespread databases will need to figure out how they can make their systems more secure. I think they can't if they continue the road their on. See below for recent article link.  http://www.fortherecordmag.com/archives/122109p10.shtml ...

MT Experience Helped Get A Job And Increased Starting Pay As Coder
May 12, 2015

I just wanted to post a word of encouragement to others looking for a coding job.  I'm currently working as an MT, studying coding at The Andrews School, passed my CPC exam in December and I just got my first job in coding.  Because of my MT experience, my new employer gave me "credit" for my MT experience and gave me a higher starting pay rate.  I haven't even finished my studies at Andrews yet.  The jobs are out there, and there are companies willing to hire new c ...

MT Wages
Dec 07, 2012

I want to congratulate everyone who posts on this site telling it like it is about the way these MT companies are destroying what once was a profession where you could make a decent living and actually enjoyed your job. I've been doing this for 30 years and I am still hanging on because I do not know what else to do at my age. I can barely pay my bills with what they are paying me and I am working full time. I am 68 years old and I really am not too excited about going back to school or sta ...

Wages?
Oct 31, 2013

I've taken the tests and have been offered a job with Nuance but want to know if the wage offered was the standard wage for Nuance.  I was offered 8 cpl for straight trasncription and 4 cpl for editing.  This would be for clinics only.  I've heard acute care paid more, but I've only ever had clinic experience.  Do they ever offer raises?  They mentioned a bonus program, and I've seen notes on here about people saying they have had problems getting th ...

AP - Wages
Jun 04, 2015

How many are aware of the wage disparity between different accounts (they don't find it necessary to tell us such a silly detail as the hourly wage, you have to look it up online).  With the new accounts, some pay quite low (as low as MB that no one wants to work on) and it may be a shock for those working on those accounts when they get their paychecks! Is it right of them to ask/require us to help out?  My feeling is  it is costing me to work on those accounts, as it lowers ...

Where Your Lost MQ Wages Are Going
Aug 27, 2010
