decreased work at the Q - reasons ....

Posted: Aug 25, 2010

1.  Combine the 2 largest companies .... a lot of MTs.

2.  Developing technology, such as Epic, leading to needing less MTs.

3.  Offshoring, for less; thus, losing accounts but not MTs.

4.  Summer vacation for many doctors resulting in less work after Buyout.

Ever notice ALL MTSOs have their standard excuses for - work? Here is what I hear sm

Holidays coming, holiday just over, school starting, school ending, vacation season starting, vacation season ending. Mix and match, put in hat and pull out the excuse of the day. Doesnt matter if makes sense or not

I love the school is starting excuse - doncha know

That is the funniest one yet...

Apparently only the people with children go to the hospital, and they would not dream of going to the hospital for scheduled surgery or accident, or heart attacks, or cancer, or any other reason cause SCHOOL IS STARTING!

It really makes perfect sense!

not losing accounts - dont believe that

OFFSHORING MORE... thus NO WORK Nothing to do with doctor vacations.

Remember, 80% of the work has to be offshored by the end of this year.

Expect it to get a lot worse!

80% has to be offshore? - Confused

When you say 80% of the work HAS to be offshored by the end of the year, what do you mean. Is MQ contracted to do that? That is a completely astounding amount of work if that is the case.

yes, MQ contracted to CBAY - 80% bye-bye

I believe it was in SEC filings. I know someone has the link, if they would not mind posting it.
Unfortunately it's us paying for MQ's karma - dnr

due to their crooked activity and putting the company in prime position to be raped and pilaged by CB. Unfortunately, it's us paying for it. I can only hope the ultimate karma comes.

The economy is also the victim of Ponsky karma, and the little people are paying the price. Unfortunately, someone else's karma and affect others.
Here ya go. - In the SEC filings.

Upon agreement and execution of an order form by MedQuist TL and CBay Systems & Services, MEDQUIST TL MUST OFFER CBAY SYSTEMS AND SERVICES NOT LESS THAN 80% OF ALL VOLUME PROJECTIONS SET FORTH IN AN EXECUTED ORDER FORM.

The 2008 TSA embodied a pilot program with CBay Systems & Services, governing a limited scope of work to ensure that such an outsourcing arrangement was feasible. Following this pilot, MedQuist TL entered into the 2009 TSA which has a larger scope of work. The 2009 TSA superseded the 2008 TSA and after MedQuist TL and CBay Systems & Services entered into the 2009 TSA, the 2008 TSA was no longer necessary. The Company̢۪s Current Report on Form 8-K filed on November 3, 2009 disclosed the termination of the 2008 TSA.

I was told many of the clinics are now using EMR - technology

But if 80% has to be offshored, boy, that really sounds criminal! Let's go buy the largest company in the country and put everyone out of work! how "free enterprising" of them.

mine did - - reasons ....

my large clinic started using Epic, which has decreased MT work by 1/4, so far.

I do know some of our doctors are on summer vacation, which decreases our work more.

I have read on forums that "I lost my account when it went Global."

Oh and there is one more! - sonny

They have also been hiring Career Steps recent grads too! I know in June and August and another class in Sept.

I just do not get it. I am an ex-Spheris MT and our accounts are super slow or no work too. Accounts that there used to be OT almost every day.

It is going to India, sm - Spherite

On the last team meeting before I quit, the supervisor told us most of our workpools would be moved to global by the end of the summer. They would be moving us around to try to keep work, learn new accounts, etc.

It is no secret. MQ has to send it out. It was part of the deal when CBAY bailed them out.

Question from 1 ex-Spheris MT to another - ex-Spheris MT08

I left S in 2008. When I read about the MQ buyout, I was totally shocked. What on earth happened between end of 2008 and the MQ buyout? When I left, I was learning Cornerstone and not liking it. I thought between SR and their "follow the sun" strategy, everything was supposed to be so great for all?

ETA: Nevermind. I read the reviews on glassdoor.com and jobvent.com dating back to 2008.

Here's Why Our Pay Has Decreased So Drastically.
Sep 29, 2010

I originally posted this as a reply to another poster, but wanted to re-post it so that everyone could see and understand why our pay has decreased so drastically the past year.  This is an excerpt from notes to financial statements in MQ SEC filing obtained from www.faqs.org: "Cost of revenues decreased $4.0 million, or 7.5% to $49.8 million for the three months ended March 31, 2010 compared with $53.9 million for the three months ended March 31, 2009. Any Other SHDAs Notice Decreased ILP QA?
Aug 23, 2014

Since the transition, I have not gotten nearly as much ILP QA as I used to.  Not much in the way of US MTs either, but I expect that with their blank contest.  I have a feeling they have made ILP work only QA'd by ILPs now without the extra step through US QA.  If that is the case, there is going to be a lot more garbage reports going to the hospitals, especially considering ILP QA barely even look at reports before sending them on. ...

What Would You Do, Pay Decreased When Company Changed Hands
Mar 30, 2012

I was working for a company that got bought out by another company and the client I was typing for was paying 12 cents a line, now the new company will only give me 7.5 cents a line for the same client.  This client is ESL and very hard to learn and his files are always 10+ minutes each.  They told me I would eventually get 10 cents for him, but that was almost 6 months ago and still only get 7.5.  I have asked for a raise to at least 8 cents and they denied me.  What would y ...

First Time Right - CPL Being Decreased If The QA Submission Rate Is Too High
Mar 07, 2010

I've had time to think about this whole First Time Right plan.   I've seen a lot in my 32 yrs in the business and in my humble opinion, I think it will be okay except for the part about CPL being decreased if the QA submission rate is too high.  There must be an alternative other than taking away hard earned pay.  Anyone else agree? ...
