Why would you need to be connected to the Internet while you work? Assume they will have names available. A medical dictionary works for terms. If you don't know something and can't look it up on Internet, leave a blank and send to QA. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Run, do not walk away from this company....The recruiter is a class A bitch and they expect you to sit in from of the computer for hours (set hours) to answer maybe a handful of calls and make 50 cents up to 3.00 per call. Rude supervisors, rude people calling in....It is not worth it....Also they expect 100% accuracy at ALL times. I do not know about all of you folks but do you really expect that a human being can be accurate 100% of the time. If I could do that, believe me I would not be working for 8 cents a line.

I agree, this company is truly despicable. They don't spend any time training people or responding to e-mails with questions and will let you go for any little typo. They treat people like dirt, even those who have been transcribing for 20-30+ years and do excellent work.

I have been with them over 4 years after having worked for a few other large companies and I have STUCK with them for multiple reasons. They CLEARLY outline what is expected from each IC - and, on that note, they also make it clear about our IC status. We are hired as we present ourselves-as EXPERIENCED professionals; they are CLEAR about the NON-training available and, despite that legal issue for them, they have gone above and beyond to get us accustomed to any new accounts and programs. I did get removed from one of my favorite accounts a few years back - it was heartbreaking and felt a little bit "unfair"; HOWEVER, because they clearly outline expectations and we AGREE to those upon hire, and because I WAS in fact in the wrong with my otherwise seemingly common, understandable "typo" (I had to make a choice in a demographics area, I DID make the choise, but did NOT review before sending to make sure my computer cooperated)...I take FULL responsibility for that error and its consequences I was fully advised/warned about from the very beginning. This company is a rare gem - its goals are to continue to improve/expand and KEEP US EMPLOYED, if even in new fields and tasks. NO OTHER COMPANY does this much. I cannot relate to any of the negative comments about Phoenix on this board/post - I find it ridiculous and extremely unprofessional, likely from people I rather NOT call my colleagues or working on my team. As far as personal attacks on managment etc, please take a moment to survey YOUR responsibilities and inability to accept your errors and faults before making libel attacks on character. There is a lot to be said about the people who have been attacked on here who have managed to obtain and MAINTAIN some exceptional and renowned clients I feel extremely honored to be working for. Lastly, I am shocked Admin allows some of the verbiage and personal attacks posted on here and hope they can review/edit responsibly and soon. Hope everyone has a productive rest of the week and you are happy in all you do.

I have been working with them for three years and have found them to be nothing but helpful and professional. J is right, the contract that we sign as an IC is clear about what is expected of us and what we can expect from them. They, however, go above and beyond what they agree to in the contract and give as much help and training as is needed. To those who are posting vicious and personal attacks, well take it from where it comes, a disgruntled employee not taking responsibility for their mistakes and trying to get "revenge" on the company. My advice to you would be to jump at the chance to work for a company who not only abides by the IC definition in allowing you the flexibility you need, but truly care for their employees.

I am not management or have any ulterior motive except to say that Phoenix MedCom is an outstanding company who is more than fair with their independent contractors. I do not know much about the Physician Practice side or who manages that business, but I have worked for them through the years and in all situations they have been more than fair with me even at times when I didn't come through. They are professional and care about what they give the client at all times. If we do our part and put out professional work, there is no problem. Management is always professional. I just had to speak up in defense of a company like Phoenix MedCom who truly is more than fair with the independent contractors.

I do work for the PPS side and LOVE it! I have actually given up transcribing for the most part. There are days it is slow, but it is so much more enjoyable than working for transcription for pennies. It is a growing business, so things will continually get better. As far as management, they do have their days, but I truly enjoy working with these people. They do go way beyond what I have ever experienced as an IC.
