Are there any Transcription companies in Las Vegas? - LVbound

Are there currently any transcription companies in Las Vegas? I'm moving there and would love to try to find a job in-house but never hear of any.

All of the companies I know of here don't do in-house. You may find a doc's office, tho. One thing to keep in mind, it's a Mormon town and they do stick together.

Don't think the hospitals have in-house departments - anon

A lot of the services who do their work are either located in California or Texas. Transtech you can look into and there is a posting on this board. I once got a referral from an MT I worked with who moved there and she was typing for a service out of California. Some of those companies are on this board also. Most hospitals outsource transcription anyway. Even if you wanted to know who does their work they won't tell you! Yet you want a job..? Though you don't need to do the local dictation now that the work is from all over the US. Why do you think because you are moving to Vegas that you have to find a service in Vegas? I would think if you worked for a service you'd still be able to work in Vegas...no? You could even move to India, the Philippines or Haiti...they even have the internet up and running now!

MedQuist is local in Las Vegas, on Flamingo Rd. UMC also has transcription in house, radiology, as does St. Rose Dominican.

I am currently working at a company and with the way things are going with all of these companies, I am just afraid of layoffs. It's sad to see all of the same transcription companies on the job boards hiring, and it seems by reading the boards none of them are worth working for. It just seems like it would save a step, as far as billing goes, the M.D. would get reimbursed more quickly. Insurance companies may even pay MTs more? Wouldn't this have substantial savings in administrative and other costs? They would not have to keep trimming back on their transcription costs by lowering the MT pay rates. ...
