Amphion experience? - Busy bee

Posted: Sep 07, 2011

I've been hearing some good things about Amphion.  Are there any current Amphion employees out there who have been there for a decent amount of time and could share their experience with the company?   I'm wondering how their pay is and how they are to work for in general.  Do you find yourself running out of work very often?   Do you make a good living there?  Can they be flexible at all with schedules?  Lastly, are most of their accounts straight typing or VR editing?  I know those are a lot of questions, but I'm very interested in this company and would like to know more about them before I apply.  I need to find a good company where I will have a stable, solid income.  I don't have time to mess around!  I'd love to get as much honest feedback as I possibly can to help me make my decision.

I am a current Amphionite. I've been with them since March 2010. Their pay is decent/comparable or better than other MTSOs in my opinion. I believe starting rate is 0.08/0.04 CPL for ST/VR. (I make different but cannot say my wages) It's 90% or more editing work. They are great to work for. I do run out of work on my accounts in the winter, probably because my accounts are in the north and alot of people skip town during winter, but spring it comes back around and summer is always super busy, sometimes even OT. I make a very good living at it even with taxes, insurances, 401k taken out, I make more than "office" jobs around my town. I have plenty of work to keep me busy with 2 accounts. It was slowgoing for me at first but I was proactive and asked for a secondary account and I was given one. Great benefits. Always can get ahold of someone by IM, email, or phone. Never more than 2 days (at most) to hear back from someone. QA is great too. PT or FT whether acute care or radiology (I believe) has a mandatory weekend day in their permanent schedule. I don't think you will be able to be M-F only. Just something to think about. However, after 1 year with them, you are allowed to change your schedule twice a year (with approval). Some MTs have a winter/summer schedule. I change mine in January just to mix it up a bit. Right now, I personally work Tues-Sat later in the day and I'm fine with it. I have Mondays off to do regular business day things such as doc appts or go to the bank, etc. They are pretty flexible with schedules for appts, time off, etc with enough notice. Flexing is an option too if you do run out of work. You can work up to 40 hrs/week w/o going into OT and most likely make line count or better. I like it alot at Amphion. I hope I answered everything for you. :-)

Good luck. Email me if you have more Qs.

They both offered me positions when I so unwisely chose SoftScript.  Now that I am looking again, I am wondering if they are the same out-of-work types or if they might be a legitimate option to explore.  I am pretty much at the end of my rope.  I have asked to be patient for 3 months now and my patience is worn out. If you know of any other companies that pay decent and offer full-time employee status with benefits, I'd appreciate knowing that too.  Thanks for your he ...

I suppose in anything and not just medical. Experience in transcription is experience, right? ...

Q For Amphion MTs
Sep 29, 2010

Anyone ever get fired from Amphion for not meeting line requirements? I work for them FT or more as needed and have yet to make the 12,000 line requirement. I've been with them for 6 months now and have not heard a peep about it. My QA is meeting requirements and my attendance is excellent, but I have yet to make the line count. I've switched my schedule, asked for another team, another account, work extra, racked my brain, all to no answer or just "no". I'm not sure what to do a ...

Does anyone know anything about Amphion.  I know nothing.  I think I'm going to have to find another job because of changes being made in the company I work at currently.  I can't afford such a drastic pay cut as what is coming for me so I'm looking around for a transcription job, not VR.  Any information good or bad is welcome.  Thanks to anyone who responds.  It is greatly appreciated.  ...
