Accepted a job transcribing for Legal and insurance letters and forms. - GeeGee

Posted: Mar 26, 2014

I applied for a job with a company and was hired.  The start pay is just okay, but increases as your line count increases and  I think this is a good way for me to get my foot in the door and experience with working with other types of transcription and jobs.  It is straight typing and involves insurance and legal matters and forms.  If anyone wants to know more about it, I will be happy to let you know.  I start in April.

sure.. id like more info - email me please

GeeGee, I'd be interested in seeing that as well. It looks like my account that has been paying me good money for a year is slowly drying up. :(

please send me info too. I need a new job desperately.

Maybe post it public? - Anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Since it sounds like lots of us would like to know, maybe you could just make it public...?

Didnt post it public, because I am not doing an advertisement for the company itself - Gee Gee

I was just trying to help a few people who might have been looking for something because I found out about them from an ad about a month ago. I cant post a public job opening for a company without their permission. I just got my software installed and asked if they were still needing anyone and they said they had already gotten a lot of response from their ad.

You cant post anything to direct people to other sites, even to help find jobs. - Post gets deleted and/or you get banned for it nm

Could I get info on this company also, please.

Still waiting on information - MT

Still trying to have info sent to me. I replied to poster with my email address two days ago but haven't heard back. Still waiting.

I did not bother with the test because of quoted pay. - eW

Paperwork said $0.005 per word. I counted in Word, and the word rate worked out to a bit over $1 a page (single space!) Calculation by both pay by the word and conversation to pay by line worked out to $0.05 per line. Add to that, you have to pay double SS in taxes (employees only pay half the SS tax with employer paying the other half.).

Is your pay rate working out to be better than that?

TIA

I, too, would like info on this company (although, by the number of MTs asking you for that info, I doubt there will be any positions left!).

If you are transcribing a dictated letter from one physician to another in regards to a pt, wouldnt the date at the top of the letter be the date that you typed the letter?  It doesnt seem that it would be the date of service or is this a preference thing of a physican or transcription company which date you put up there?  ...

Pay "per Page"? (legal, Insurance Reports)
May 30, 2015

How does it work when a company advertises that they pay per page?  How on earth would I know what I would get paid?  Wouldn't some pages have just a little and some a lot?   Like this ad on the job seeker's board... "Transcripts are 25 lines, expanded font, indented speaker tags, $1.10/pg"  huh??  lol   ...

After going back and forth for two years, I finally decided to apply for college and I was accepted, yay me!!  Actually, I already have my Associate's degree, so this isn't my first time in college, but I feel like I've taken a huge step in my life and I was so excited I just wanted to share with my fellow MTs!  Just an FYI, after researching an endless amount of colleges, I chose WGU majoring in Health Informatics and am even considering my MBA there as well because the ...

Letters To Congress
Mar 27, 2015

Regarding pay, work conditions, etc., the only clear out of bounds complaints we have are 1)  Unpaid work.  The concept that we can do this 'on the clock' is a double whammy. You end up getting paid LESS than if you did it on your own time. I've clocked alll this unpaid work very conservatively.  It is 48-52 hours annually. Fair wage and labor standards in your state deals with that or you can form a strong coalition of MTs and find an employment attorney. The one I consulte ...

Why Do A Lot Of Doctors Who Dictate Letters To
Jun 05, 2014

or sometimes even within the state don't bother to spell the doctor's name?  There are a million doctors on the account hospital list, and if it's anything unusual (most of the time), I go crazy trying to sound it out and looking for it. :p  Of course, if the doctor is out of state, 99% of the time it's not even listed.  I hate doing correspondence.  Was doing all operative reports before this for many years and liked that much better.   ...

What Type Of Information Do You Put In Your Cover Letters? (sm)
