Accentus Acute Care Accounts - mtgirl

Posted: May 17, 2012

Can anyone working with Accentus tell me a little about their acute care accounts - how are the dictators, lines, amount of work, etc.?  Also, how are they as far as a company to work for?  Have the opportunity to work either for a hospital as an employee or with Accentus - not sure which to choose.  Thanks for your help.

I am Accentus acute care and I think it is a lot better than the other big MTSOs, and accounts are varied so can't really answer your question in that regard, my accounts have a fair amount of ESL but also some good dictators and I can make a fair wage. However, if I had the chance I would JUMP, no questions asked, for the hospital job!

I'm with anon up there....definitely go with the hospital.

Can I ask why

Hospital - mtgirl

Oh, I failed to mention the hospital pay is about 10-20% less and no incentives, etc. Would you still say accentus and why?

Is it an in-house position? If so, it might lead to something more. I have a friend whose HIM training and coding training are being paid for by the hospital because they liked her and she did a great job. However, some get laid off without any say, so that is a tough call.

Usually the hospital has much more affordable insurance. Do you need insurance, and how do the 2 compare?

I am overall happy at Accentus, so if the above doesn't apply, then I would say go for Accentus. I am trying to get an in-house job though personally, but in most cases the pay is better.

I agree, look at all parts of the deal; PTO, insurance, retirement plan, paid holidays, OT, etc. At the hospital, you will probably at least get annual cost of living increases. I know there are no guarantees any more, but it might offer you more stability as MTSOs have been known to lose accounts and have slow/down times so there may be times when you will run out of work at Acctentus and not get paid, I've rarely seen that happen with an on site employer.
Im in CA, here if you show up for your shift - And run out of work

You get paid for 4 hours of work. I worked in-house doing clinic work and when we had the usual holiday slow down, we were paid for 4 hours of work even if we were sent back home immediately after reporting for work. Don't know if this applies for other states or is a California thing. Jeez, I miss THAT perk!
Great perk. Is that a CA law? - Should be for all MTSOs.

I have worked holidays and had only a hand full of reports and have worked weekend PM where I had 1 report. If we give our time, we should be getting something.
It could be CA exclusive (sm) - CAMT

I've also only ever had that perk when working hourly and in-house, but I have had it be the policy at 4 different hospitals in 2 different counties. In fact, as I was the assistant manager of the transcription department at one hospital, and my shift started at 6 a.m., one of my responsibilities was to check the workload volume versus scheduled MTs and do "call-offs" if there wasn't enough work (this was only ever an issue on holidays such as Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve/Day, etc). If we able to reach the MT at home before she was en route, the 4-hour paid time didn't apply; however, if an MT showed up ready to work and there was no work, they were paid for 4 hours.

As I said, this is one perk of working in-house I really miss. It wasn't a full day's pay but at least it allowed for reimbursement of time, mileage and gas for going in to TRY to work.

Accentus Acute Care
Mar 23, 2013

Does anyone know why Accentus Acute Care seems to always have the same job ad hiring for acute care MTs that pays a sign-on bonus?  It seems as though either they never fill these positions or they are so difficult nobody stays.  I would be interested in applying, but the last time I tried to apply with them on the ambulatory side, I could not get the voice file to work.  Is this even worth applying for?  What is their cpl rate and do they pay for spaces?  Thanks for any ...

Accentus Acute Care Or Brietner Transcription
Apr 20, 2012

So, I've been offered a job with both Accentus and Brietner Transcription. I have done my research on both companies, but really struggling to pick one. I really don't want to make the wrong decision. Seems from doing my homework, the potential to make more is at Accentus, but Brietner employees seem pretty happy there too. Can anyone shed any light on what it's like to work for either company? I would be very grateful!! ...

Does Keystrokes Have Acute Care Accounts?
Dec 15, 2013

Does Keystrokes have acute care accounts?  Been reading some things about them and noticed  they do lots of radiology work.  Also what is their daily line count, does PTO accrual begin soon after hiring, do they work with you when it comes to deciding a shift (full straight 8 hour shift or split-shift). Trying to make a decision and these are some things I really need to know before deciding. Would really appreciate any information regarding my questions above.  Thank you in advance.  ...

Acute Care?
Sep 23, 2014

As a relative newbie MT, I'm not certain what "acute care" means. Does it mean basically all reports that are from doctors in the hospital setting? That is, would any hospital operative note, hospital progress note, and all discharge summaries be considered "acute care"? I know a clinic note is basically a note by an outpatient doctor, right? And it's basically about more minor medical problems albeit could be chronic rather than "acute." ...
