You're said "employees are not permitted to view their own charts or family members’ charts without signing a release, and the only things people are permitted to view and print are the things that can be accessed from Epic/My Chart at home, it is not the entire chart".

YOU have no idea what other MD systems contain. You are not the last word on what *patients* can or cannot view pertaining to their own medical records. Patients are not "employees". YOU cannot speak for all offices or all charting systems.

You have the same problem exist (even if you signed a release) if you lose your phone or someone steals. Your example is meaningless.

Sounds like you talk only to hear your own voice.
