The rent on my studio used to me $500; they raised it to $800. They did give me enough notice. I got a certified letter at the end of July telling me that my rent would be increased starting in October. Since I don't have a lease (it's month to month), they can raise the rent as high as they want if they give 60 days notice. Unfortunately, the landlord is not doing anything illegal (just unethical).
