The situation you describe with having good-paying work used to be common. I was constantly telling my MTSO "No! I don't have time to take another account even though I could make $35/hour average!" The MTSO would BEG us to take extra work - 95% of it good work, good dictators, good dictation devices, 24-hour or 48-hour turnaround. That is what I see has changed in this industry. Yes, I am semi-retired and only do this part-time now. But the last 5 years have been very stressful trying to support myself, and I finally just gave up, semi-retired, and kept the best account.
