MTs were the problem and still are - hanging on Posted: Mar 7th, 2019 - 3:56 pm In Reply to: VR - handsleight
An ounce of backbone might have saved us. But we were an industry of women, and the bosses became greedy women, unfortunately working for greedy clients. Something had to give, oh goodie, it's us.
Right now, think about this, I've said it before. An Indian-owned company or what looks like an Indian-owned company is the prime contractor all over America. And the few MTSOs who could hang on (and probably the wealthiest ones) are now subbing from them and we are now subbing for INDIAN WAGES! It's a hoot. If it wasn't so devastating. Well, they got what they wanted, getting their MT done for Indian wages. It was their goal.
We were too loose, too disorganized, too
divided. We are a good example of how an industry SHOULDN'T be run. VR still can't work without us cleaning it up. Walking off the job would probably change everything but from what I've seen the newer MTs are okay with the wages and the cut-throat environment, cherry-picking, and hoovering up the work to make their buck.
You'd think it wouldn't take much for us to walk away from .04 cents a line and all that BS. Instead, we hang on to the last dying gasp.
