will not be paying for the training, the wasted money is likely not a consideration.

There is something to be said for the student having to foot the bill for training. It might lead to better career choices.

If there are no consequences to making bad decisions like choosing MT training in the face of all the evidence that it is a dying field, the schools will just keep selling their pie-in-the-sky promises about making an effortless income while staying at home and continuing a life uninterrupted by the demands of work.
