the taxpayers' money on this. It might sound tempting to sign up for this training because it's "free" (except to the people who paid the taxes that would provide the money) and the school paints a glowing picture of MT as a growing, well-paid career. The truth is much different.

It will be very difficult to find a job. MT jobs continue to be offshored to third-world countries because it's cheaper. Voice recognition has further reduced the number of jobs available as have template and point-and-click systems that do not require MTs to generate records.

Experienced MTs are competing for fewer and fewer jobs. They will be your competition. Since experienced MTs are paid at the same rate as a newbie would be paid, companies are going to go with the applicant who can hit the ground running. They don't have time for the handholding and training that new MTs require.

A new MT, regardless of training, is not job-ready. New MTs require more of an investment in time and effort than MTSOs are willing to provide, so there are very few companies that hire new MTs.

Of course, every new MT believes they will be the exception.

At least read some of the information from the various boards here (there is a list at the left, just click on the one you want to read) so that when you've finished your "free" training and can't find a job or, if you are able to find a job, you can't make a living on the low wages, and then come here to complain, you won't be surprised by the responses.
