I have been working full-time as an MT for the past approximately 15 years and while I have a very good, straight typing IC job currently (which is now very rare) and am able to make a decent living, I know that this is a dying field. There are very few transcription jobs out there these days since many of the smaller companies have been gobbled up by companies like Nuance, IMedx, etc. Because of this, I have recently enrolled in a course to become certified in another field. I need to have a backup plan with the way the MT world is these days. It's just too unreliable now. Please, do NOT waste your time and money on the course. You'll be lucky to make $10-$12 per hour in this field at the rate it's going. It's not what it used to be even 10 years ago. Do yourself a favor and pursue something else.
