Epic - Me.

Unfortunately medical facilities have to tighten their belts. Epic is the EMR and it won't be going away. As the older providers retire, the younger generation (most of them) are all about technology. Most of them can cope with dictating/editing their own reports (will it be correct?, probably not but they will take it). Until they start getting dragged to court (and let's face it, has anybody been taken to court for a wrong/mispelled/incorrect anything in a medical record?). At least not that I've heard of. It's usually a misprescribed medication (wouldn't be our fault), overprescribed med leading to a death/incapacitation. So yeah, it's the bottom dollar and we as transcriptionists, as good as we are, can and probably will be replaced by Epic/Dragon Medical. It's a bummer, but they've been talking about it since the 1980s and it finally reared its ugly head......
