Actually, sometimes you can collect after being fired or resigning. It depends on your circumstances. In general, you should never, ever resign. Make them fire you or lay you off. What people who were fired or resigned should do is ask for an appeals hearing at the UE office. For example, what if someone works at an accounting firm and they are asked to falsify a financial statement? Rather than commit fraud, they quit. That is just a law school example. What if they resign because they are the victim of a hostile workplace? In general,never, ever resign, but in some cases, there is recourse.
