I also have a backup power pack which takes care of my modem/router unit and laptop. Worth every $70 spent on it. We also have a fuel-powered generator for the big stuff. Got it after 5 days of no power and have not used it since.

To the OP: Sorry about the loss of your job. Hopefully you will be able to find a place that treats you like a real IC. I have nothing to offer there as I work for one of the big MTSOs and would never refer anyone to them. Anyway, consider getting a backup power pack. I have the same situation like you during storms & winds--power constantly dims or clicks off just enough to mess up clocks--and the backup power takes over seamlessly. I only know there is a power issue because it beeps. Good luck.
