Since MTs won a labor commissioner decision stating that the MTSOs have to pay us minimum wage, the MTSOs have taken it upon themselves to start hiring only ICs so they can continue to pay us under minimum wage legally. MTs who are stuck with ESLs, horrid dictators, long pauses in dictation, mandatory free labor and other obstacles to meeting the company's minimum line count do not make money for the MTSOs who underbid the contract with no consideration to paying a minimum wage. In other words, since the MTSOs have allowed no contact between MTs and providers to correct dictation problems, the providers haven't the foggiest idea that their dictation sucks, so they keep on keeping on and we pay the price. You have seen the job ads all change to wanting ICs so they don't have to pay minimum wage. I think the employees who cannot make the minimum count will be fired to be replaced by ICs. Since what we make affects most of us, I don't think there should be a separate section. Members who have no interested in taxation for IC vs employee or how the MTSOs are ripping us off have the option to not read the post or replies.
