As a TL with Transcend/Nuance I was asked to create logins with American-looking names for some Indian MTs. I did it to keep my job (my whole family tree is in there!) but when I was manhandled down to minimum wage by Nuance I told the state Attorney General about it.
MTSOs charge clients less for offshore MTs, and they pay more for American MTs. MTSOs cheat their customers by making them think they have American MTs by giving them American-looking names. It's been going on for quite a while, and ultimately the only way to tell if the MT is offshore is to do an IP trace on the login, which can be done by any IT department.
