I chose NOT to take early SS because the amount is much less and it never goes up to where it would have been at retirement age, although mine is not true SS, but SS Survivor benefits from the death of my ex-husband. Yes, my income is capped, but only until I reach the age of 65, and it is at a little over $12,000 I am able to work for annually. After that, it is unlimited. I am 65 now and heading for 66 in another 4 months. I do okay on a part time job and SS benefits. I will do better after I can work full time again... IF i want to. I do not think I would want to limit my SS by taking it early just to work capped for one year. Every extra dollar helps. But everybody's story is different. This was just the best way for ME.
