But there is a "cap" on how much you can earn (in my particular case it's in the neighborhood of $15,000/year and anything above that would be deducted from SS payment). My bigger concern is monthly SS is a good lower if you retire before "official" retirement age and will never increase. For me that would amount to around $300/month less if I retire now as opposed to when I'm 66; not a bundle of $$ to be sure, but if that's what I have to live on, every little bit will help. After "official" retirement age, you can draw SS and work/earn as much as you want to (or are able to) without affecting SS payments. At least, this is all my understanding; I'm surely no expert ... on any subject. If I'm wrong, I gladly stand to be corrected.
